We have an exciting opportunity for an HR Compliance Specialist with our Veolia Water Technologies & Solutions business. This is a critical and key member of our North American HR team, responsible for ensuring HR policies, practices and programs meet standards and compliance requirements, and are effectively communicated for our US, Canada, and Caribbean employee population. This is an important position that will influence positive outcomes to maintain employee effectiveness and morale, and mitigate and control legal risk, while enabling the business to move forward.

Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Working with our 3rd party vendors, assist with the development, implementation and production of Affirmative Action Plans, annual government reporting, AAP goal monitoring, and compensation equity analysis.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners,Talent Acquisition, and HRIS to ensure that reports are an accurate reflection of the employee population and hiring and promotion practices.
  • Provide advice and counsel to internal clients regarding EEO/AA compliance and policy issues by evaluating risk and reviewing precedents.
  • Proactively assess impact of new legislation and rulings on procedures and policies. Inform clients of impact effectively. Coordinate implementation of required procedural and/or policy revisions to maintain compliance.
  • Consults with HR teams, leaders, and legal counsel to research, and address employee relations escalations including investigating, advising, and reporting.
  • Partners with HR, Legal and business teams to address employment issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Consults with HRBPs to ensure front line managers have resources to effectively coach their teams and address concerns.
  • Ensures client accountabilities for mandatory training compliance, annual policy acknowledgements such as updates to the Employee Handbook and related documents, and consistent application of progressive discipline.
  • Reviews, updates, and delivers HR compliance trainings. Partners with HR, Legal and external partners to ensure content reflects the most up to date HR policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Monitors relevant publications for national, state, and local legislation and regulatory requirements, and works with HR and Legal to assess the organizational impact and ensure compliance.
  • Follows internal best practices to create and maintain records. Organizes and conducts periodic audits of HR-related records, programs, and training content.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

 

 

  • Demonstrated understanding of key principles of federal, state, and local employment laws in the United States and Canada, especially the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and state counterparts
  • Demonstrated understanding of legal compliance and liability.
  • Proven relationship-building and consulting capability with partners and all levels of management
  • Strong ability to have keen attention to detail with large data sets and reports


Education & Experience

Required:

 

 

  • At least 5 years HR work experience to include building/managing employment related compliance programs and investigations
  • Reporting/analytics experience with demonstrated high proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets


Preferred (if applicable):

 

 

  • Advanced Degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, Labor Relations or related program
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and follow through on multiple priorities and assignments


Additional responsibilities/expectations:

 

 

  • Coordinate preparation of analyses and documentation of AA efforts, assemble other required documents. Analyze possible outcome of review and make recommendations as appropriate.
  • Build relationships and act as liaison with federal and state government agencies to represent the company effectively in these contacts.
  • Acts as a neutral investigator of employee concerns and applies a balanced perspective. Communicates with and updates leaders and legal counsel, as appropriate.
  • Provides quality, fact-based insights by delivering independent, objective, and courageous advice to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Researches, develops, and implements sustainable, culturally connected compliance solutions that address business needs and positively impact the employment experience.

Compensation-- The salary range is tied to the market for similarly benchmarked roles. The range is not an absolute, but a guide, and offers will be based on the individual candidate's knowledge, skills, experience and market conditions, as well as internal peer equity. Depending upon all of the preceding considerations for the final selected individual candidate, the offer may be lower or higher than the stated range: $87,500 - $104,000
