SUMMARY:

The Hydraulic Engineer/Specialist is involved in the design of the hydraulic systems using sound hydraulic principles. He/she proposes modifications and solutions to address issues with existing products. The Hydraulic Engineer/Specialist performs various engineering calculations to help make educated decisions about the performance of the hydraulic system design. He/she works closely with the product teams to help with all hydraulic applications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create hydraulic schematics using AutoCAD.
• Create, safe, energy efficient, and functional hydraulic systems
• Perform hydraulic calculations as required for engineering review
• Perform detailed review of the hydraulic systems
• Check hydraulic schematics produced by designers
• Verify the hydraulic component selection meets the application requirements
• Provide safety review for all hydraulic applications
• Provide technical support to Quality, Manufacturing, and Marketing
• Interface with vendors and provide technical support
• Participate in company safety meetings and safety awareness
• Other duties maybe assigned

COMPETENCIES

  • Hydraulic expertise - hydraulic system design, schematics, trouble-shooting, HPU design, hydraulic system layout and plumbing design, contamination control
  • Knowledge of MathCAD, AutoCAD, diagnostic equipment, SolidWorks, Automation Studio
  • Knowledge of drilling engineering principles, drilling practices and drilling rigs
  • Knowledge of drafting principles.
  • Design creativity
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Software
  • Knowledge of oilfield regulatory requirements

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Mechanical Engineering degree with 5 years relevant hydraulic experience
  • Associate degree (or equiv.) in Fluid Power Technology and 5 years relevant hydraulic experience

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, comprehend and write in English
  • Ability to effectively present technical information to colleagues, customers, and vendors

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • As per fluid power degree and the IFPS requirements

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • AutoCAD, MathCAD, SolidWorks, Automation Studio
  • Manufacturing/Inventory software
  • Spreadsheet and word processor software

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid Driver License
  • IFPS certification and/or membership a plus

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Valid passport
  • Domestic and international travel may be required.
