SR. DRILLING & COMPLETION ENGINEER
Primary Purpose of Job
Lead a team of drilling & completions engineers; Responsible for all technical input and advice related to well engineering and well operations. All work to be conducted in a safe, effective, legal, and environmentally responsible manner. 1. Ensure full understanding and compliance with Corporate, Directorate and Departmental QHSE policies and procedures. 2. Leads his team in developing specific well plans in close collaboration with the Asset Development and Field Operations teams 3. Ensures the Well Planning Process is followed for all wells' projects. Support Asset Development during the planning and execution phase of the project. Leads internal well design reviews and risk assessments for assigned wells. Develops well designs and drilling programmes. Documents all well design changes using the MoC process. 4. Provides technical support on daily drilling and completion operations. Monitors daily morning report. Primary responsible for completeness of well files and OpenWells for assigned wells. 5. Provides internal and external benchmarking and end of well reports. Coordinates and communicates end of well reviews. 6. Manage operational and QHSE performance of assigned contracts. Responsible for preparing tenders, analysing vendor response, awarding contracts, and administering assigned contracts. Ensures timely procurement of material, equipment and personnel. Reviews and approves invoices for accuracy. 7. Support and trains junior (Qatari) engineers as required to achieve their development objectives. 8. Provides relief for Head, Drilling Engineering Idd Elshargi as required, during the absence. 9. Conduct frequent visits to the rig sites to monitor and support critical drilling operations. Support the drilling supervisor in any way possible to achieve a successful operation.
Education
• BSc. in Petroleum Engineering (or related engineering discipline) plus relevant drilling industry courses.
Experience & Skills
• Fluent in written and spoken English language. • Minimum 8 years Drilling Operations Engineering experience with an Operating Company (including 2 years of well site operations and 5 years with an IOC or NOC). • High level of competence (i.e., expert user) Landmark EDT software specially STRESSCHECK, COMPASS & WELLPLAN applications and knowledge of WELLCAT. • In-depth knowledge of fundamental drilling engineering and theory including: casing design, drill string design, drilling fluids, trajectory design, drilling optimization & surveying. • Sound understanding of Well Control with the capacity to provide engineering support during critical well control events. • In-depth understanding and experience of tools and techniques to manage personal safety and process safety. Capability to provide engineering support during HSE incident investigations. • Track record of managing Drilling Engineering studies related to performance improvement and the trial of new technology. • Innovative with the ability to challenge conventional methods and capacity to drive through new initiatives.
