Where you fit in The Options and Structured Products Manager will manage and grow a portfolio of assets, structured deal flow, and options in coordination with regional desks and origination. Supervises a team of 3 traders in directly achieving annual gross margin trading targets up to $40 million and optimizing GM delivery of assets sitting with regional desks. Manages physical and financial power, natural gas and options for speculation and hedging. Manages an extensive portfolio of intermittent and firm generation, customer load and non-linear deal flow across multiple ISOs. Develops long-term business and trading strategies while operating within existing Manual Authorities and contract parameters. Leads and maintains a culture where Compliance is a Priority and the highest standards of integrity and ethics are maintained in all interactions with industry participants, customers and internally with other team members and colleagues.
What is the roleThis role will be responsible for the assessment, execution, and management of non-linear risk across the eastern US and ERCOT markets. The successful candidate will also be the lead trader on the desk and personally manage structures and options positions both standalone and in close alignment with regional desks. They will manage complex deal flow and build strong working relationships across trade desks, origination, and mid/back-office organizations.
- Contributes and participates in the GM Trading's Leadership team.
- Manages a team of 3 individuals who trade power, natural gas and options. Optimizes a growing portfolio of generation (wind, solar, natural gas), customer load, and non-linear deal flow across multiple ISOs.
- Delivery of gross margin up to $40 million annually and be point for structured deal flow, assets, and renewables to help Shell to achieve our Energy Transition goals and Power growth strategy.
Requirements: - Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Statistics, or similar. Master's Degree preferred
- 10+ years of experience in the relevant gas and power markets, trading experience with options, futures, forwards, and other derivatives
- Demonstrated ability to make quick and well-reasoned decisions encompassing Compliance and Regulatory guidelines
- Strong leadership track record of leading a team, developing staff, managing budget, focus on compliance, respect for colleagues, and the capacity to work across boundaries with other Shell Trading teams and Functional groups
- Collaborates and works in partnership with internal teams such as Compliance, Finance, Credit, Legal, Structuring, Operations, Regulatory, Fundamentals, Contracts, Market Risk
- Strategizes and coordinates with the Sales and Origination leadership and team to drive success through our origination business
- Develops customer product offerings including complex multiyear structured transactions with the Sales and Origination team
