Where you fit in

This Staff Production Engineering position will be part of a Wells Reservoir and Facility Management Team (WRFM) supporting a Gulf of Mexico production asset. The Staff Production Engineer supports well/reservoir surveillance and brownfield development activities for the asset to optimize well production performance/recovery, manage well integrity, as well as to identify well intervention opportunities.

What is the role
  • Well Integrity Management - Ownership of well integrity including annulus pressure management and ensuring functionality of safety critical components.
  • Well Surveillance - Monitoring well performance using pressure, temperature, and other real-time data and use of this data in diagnostics of production and integrity issues
  • Well Operation - Unload and ramp up wells and determine the safe and optimal well operating limits aligned with internal guidelines and an understanding of the well design limitations, fluid constraints, etc.
  • Well Testing - Responsible for frequency, strategy, and quality verification of well testing for hydrocarbon allocation process
  • Forecasting - Ownership of short and medium-term forecasting to drive asset performance
  • Modeling - Develop and manage well Prosper models and system models for opportunity identification and optimization
  • Production Operations - Provide critical and at times urgent engineering technical support for production operations as needed
  • Focal point for execution of the Production Engineering Proactive Technical Monitoring Plan
  • Work collaboratively with production operations, reservoir engineering, production chemistry, subsea engineering, process engineering, geophysics, production geology, and petrophysics to identify opportunities, threats and uncertainties, and lead or support initiatives to realize opportunities, mitigate threats, and reduce uncertainties
  • Work linkages between WRFM, new well delivery, and field development planning to ensure short/medium term vision is aligned with long-term expectations
  • Work with the GoM Technical Authorities to properly meet requirements of internal process and assurance process.
  • Bring a learner's mindset and support initiatives to promote a safe, ethical, and inclusive workplace

Special Challenges Include
  • Among other challenges, varying fluid compositions and well designs, recovery requiring artificial lift (ESP's) and Enhance Oil Recovery (Waterflood), and a complex subsea gathering system all lead to complex problems and ultimately a rich WRFM funnel of opportunities and threats.
