Overview / Responsibilities Wood has an exciting career opportunity for an
Intermediate Electrical Engineer, who is eager to learn and grow their skills within a team of friendly, dedicated, and experienced mentors. Reporting to the Electrical Department Manager, this position is located in our Oakville, ON office with flexibility to work remotely.

Responsibilities include:
- Ensure Health and Safety and environmental regulations are followed
- Ensure conformity and completeness of engineering packages against project requirements
- Support and manage the electrical design of Utility, Industrial (i.e. mining) and Renewable Energy projects (i.e. solar, wind, BESS) from preliminary design through Issued for Construction (IFC) in accordance with the pre-defined budgets, deadlines and quality requirements
- Resolve problems, interpret engineering specifications, investigate design and field engineering difficulties
- Prepare basic and higher-tier drawings and documentation in accordance with established conceptual design and scope
- Perform checks of engineering deliverables, as required
- Perform basic calculations such as voltage drop, CT burden and saturation, short circuit, relay settings and Arc Flash
- Prepare 2D drawings and technical specifications to an IFC level
- Develop Bill of Materials and specifications for equipment
- Conduct field assessments and provide construction support on occasion at Client facilities and construction sites
- Provide technical support during tendering, construction and commissioning
- Interface with Clients for project scope development, design reviews, and progress meetings
Skills / Qualifications - University graduation, majoring in electrical engineering
- Registered Professional engineer in Canada
- Proficient in English with ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written
- 8+ years relevant experience preferrable
- Knowledgeable of wiring diagrams, control logic diagrams, system descriptions, system calculations, 1-line and 3-line AC drawings, AC & DC schematics
- Experience with some or all of the following would be considered an asset:
- Standard industry design tools such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite
- Electrical design software such as ETAP, SKM, and AGI32
- Canadian Electrical Code, ANSI and IEEE standards
- Cable tray design, single line diagrams, electrical schematics, power system grounding, general arrangements, lighting layouts and general electrical design concepts
- Industrial power systems and motor controls
- Protection and control experience with utility substations or generating stations
- Knowledge of PV system major components (PV modules, combiner boxes, inverters, AC/DC LV and MV cabling)
- Knowledge of wind turbine technologies including balance of plant design (AC cabling, major electrical components, collector design, MV and LV substation)
- Good understanding of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)
