Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently seeking an intermediate to senior Project Engineer to join our Mining & Minerals team in Oakville, Ontario, reporting to the Project Director and / or, Area Project Manager and functionally to the Office Engineering Manager in our Oakville, ON office. This role will assist in the coordination of the execution of project actives.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan project activities and develop the project schedule.
  • Develop the total installed cost estimate.
  • Perform all aspects of project integration activities including project reporting, monitoring, and controlling and resource forecasting.
  • Work with Project Controls to monitor project metrics and to control project costs and schedule on a continual basis.
  • Prepare required trends expeditiously to reflect scope changes, cost, and schedule impacts per Change Management protocol
  • Assist in project QA/QC activities to ensure project execution meets the requirements prescribed in the PEP/DBM.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work in one discipline/project/staff group.
  • Coordinate engineering efforts in assigned areas between specialty and other engineering groups/disciplines with clients, suppliers, and contractors and between other divisional groups.
  • Compile and complete project technical reports


Skills / Qualifications

  • 6 - 10 years of experience on mining projects as a project engineer
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Must be registered as a Professional Engineer in Canada
  • Good working knowledge of applicable industry codes and guideline
  • Formal Project Management training would be an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized, systematic and competent to perform detailed technical tasks.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.
  • Must be familiar in working in a multi-discipline setting, with ability to coordinate and communicate with each discipline.
  • Fluency in French language will be considered an asset
  • Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
