Overview / Responsibilities Wood is currently recruiting for an Junior Construction Field / Buyer r esponsible for planning, directing and coordinating the activities of purchasing and receiving construction materials for field operations.
Key Responbilities:
- Investigates and recommends suppliers of equipment, materials and services.
- Cooperates with project engineering and specialty departments in the development of intercompany departmental processes.
- Recommends departmental policies, procedures and programs.
- Represents the Procurement department in auditing of procurement procedures and/or guidelines.
- Reviews and monitors processing of claims across projects against suppliers for unsatisfactory materials/equipment.
- Maintains constant awareness of market and supply sources. Keeps abreast of price trends in equipment and materials.
- Ensures that all buyers are using and maintaining Inquiry Status Reports for all projects. Regularly monitors the reports for completeness and quality
- Maintain records of materials ordered and received and rental equipment.
- Monitor deliveries of materials and equipment, being mindful of late deliveries. Communicate with vendors and suppliers adverse effect of late deliveries on construction project. Resolve vendor or contractor grievances and claims against suppliers.
- Communicate with field supervision to assure quantities, specifications and deliveries are thoroughly understood and transmitted correctly to vendors and suppliers.
- Participate in pre-job meetings to assure familiarity with schedules and communicate material delivery issues that may impact schedules.
- Interface with designated corporate departments addressing all invoicing and quality concerns with vendors.
- Communication - Demonstrated ability to actively listen, give detailed, clear oral instructions and feedback and write, using appropriate writing style, grammar and spelling.
Skills / Qualifications Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably involving major study in Business Administration or related field. Otherwise equivalent job experience.
- Minimum: Two (2) years of purchasing experience

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. May require close vision work and travel.
