The primary role of the Technical Specialist - IPF/SIL-TAO is responsible for the design, assessment & validation work in the Shell SIFpro tool according to agreed planning and supporting a First Time Right culture and behaviors.

The successful candidate needs to be able to understand the complexities and intricacies of maintenance activities of Field instruments, Analyzer instruments, control system instruments like PLC, DCS instruments in oil and gas industry by studying the operations and maintenance manuals of OEMs, general task lists, equipment specific task lists, Test certificates, maintenance reports, spare part list, maintenance strategies etc., and participating in technical discussions with global, site maintenance leads/technical authorities & OEMs/Vendors etc.,

Prepare maintenance strategies, carry out assessment, ensure correct prioritization of work, troubleshoot & propose technical solutions virtually, co-ordinate discussion with stakeholders, conduct Risk Assessment, ensure good QA/QC, record keeping, & final job closure to enable high equipment reliability & plant availability.

Purpose & Accountabilities:
  • Participates in SIL reviews and perform SIL verification and design activities for assigned assets/projects. This includes and not limited to SIL classification, Safe Fault Tolerance justification calculations, test intervals optimisation, coverage factors etc.
  • Perform other activities as per AMS MEC RP02. E.g. SIFpro database maintenance, test procedures write-up, perfomance monitoring etc
  • Support other relevant studies pertaining to engineering when required - e.g. HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, F&G Mapping Studies
  • Analyse and Explore improvements for maintenance/design on C&A systems, covering IPS, DCS, F&G, ASD, PLC, Relay system, LCP, actuated/control valves, field instrumentation.
  • Review and improve existing strategies and procedures in timely manner as per latest technical and maintenance requirements.
  • Review and manage Plant Change Proposals including its engineering design, procurement, execution and hand over to the operation team.
  • Review and optimize maintenance strategy (SAP PM & CM routines) and requirements for C&A equipment and systems for assets.
  • Improve C&A, equipment and system performance for uptime management and technical integrity assurance (SCE's).
  • Update inspection and maintenance policies and philosophies in line with the requirements of the regulatory bodies and carry out QA/Check and balance reviews pertaining to Control and Automation(C&A), (including technical reviews and Peer Assist reviews) and applied in the implementation of all improvement of existing assets.
  • Assist assets in managing PCD integrity as per AMS PCDI RP01
  • Ensures that work in his/her area of responsibility is carried out in accordance with global and local HSSE&SP policy and procedures.

  • Shift work following operating hours of the asset.

Requirements:
  • University Degree in Instrumentation & Control/Electronics & Instrumentation/Electronics/Electricalor related full-time university degree with at least 8 years relevant experience.
  • Broad exposure to Operations and Maintenance/or Surface engineering, and a good understanding of the Maintenance process/system in Oil & Gas or Petro-chemical industry.
  • Sound technical knowledge with working experience in Instrumentation and Controls with working experience in field instruments (including control valves), control systems (DCS, IPS, local panels etc.), analysers, hydraulic systems, auxiliaries and interfaces system (e.g. serial link cable, Modbus, TCP/IP, Profibus, FF etc.)
  • Exposure to Preventive/ Corrective/breakdown maintenance and turnarounds.
  • Experienced in engineering solutions, driving plant changes and managing projects in an operating environment. FAT/SAT participation experience is an advantage.
  • Experience in maintenance and engineering tools preferred - e.g. CMMS-SAP, AVEVA, SPI Intools, Conval, Instrucalc etc.
  • Knowledge on IPF Methodology/Review and awareness on Asset IPF Lifecycle Reviews (IPF FAIR/FSA)
  • Awareness of ISA Standards including ISA 84 (process safety standard) / IEC61508, IEC61511.
  • Knowledge/Understanding of the Shell HSSE Framework, HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA / IPF Classification studies, Management of Change (MOC), F&G Mapping Studies.
  • Knowledge of Asset Management System & recommended practices.
  • Awareness to Knowledge in Reliability Centered Maintenance techniques and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Knowledge in Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) e.g. SAP.
  • Awareness of PCD Integrity.
