Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently sourcing for a Coating and Painting Journeyperson to join our team in Seminole, Texas. You will be responsible for carrying out painting duties and tasks competently and safely in accordance with training, skills and specification as instructed and directed by supervision.

U.S. Only: Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required.

Skills / Qualifications

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure work is executed in accordance to agreed guidance documents (i.e. work packs, work instructions, procedures), manufacturer' recommendation
  • Provide leadership and mentoring of ad hoc personnel
  • Monitor paint materials and highlight any overages/shortages to Offshore Fabric Maintenance Supervisor
  • Ensure all equipment is in fit-for-purpose condition and quarantine any defective materials
  • Ensure coatings are applied in accordance to governing specifications, including manufacturer's recommendations and that QA/QC checks are performed in accordance to Wood's Coating Application Procedure
  • Ensure that documentation is maintained in accordance to Wood's Coating Application Procedure
  • Must be conversant with all relevant standards, specifications, rules, regulations etc. including Permit to Work (PTW)

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • Preferably 5+ years' related experience in an industrial maintenance environment (preferably in the offshore or petro-chemical / refinery industry)
  • NACE Coating Inspector Certification considered an asset
  • Interprovincial Journeyperson's Painter certificate. Any equivalent combination of experience and / or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may also be considered
  • Experienced in the application of coatings in an offshore environment
  • Must have experience in blast media, prep, prime, top coat (roller and spray gun)
  • Demonstrate ability to use standard and/or metric rule to measure
  • The employee must be willing to be trained on J L G lifts, and any other equipment that is used on the job site
