Main Purpose of the Role:
- To be a highly experienced hydrometallurgical process engineer in the Process Department
- To deliver best practice process plant design services in designated studies, projects and consulting services, in alignment with organisational objectives and client requirements.
- To work safely, complying with and actively contributing to the company's Health, Safety and Environmental HSE policies, manuals, and procedures. At all times consider the health, safety and welfare of fellow workers, visitors, clients, community, and the environment
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Lead the design and process engineering for hydrometallurgical circuits or plants.
- Lead/assist in the design and preparation of specifications for metallurgical process plants.
- Broad understanding of extractive metallurgy.
- Technical knowledge of hydrometallurgy and related unit operations, such as leaching, precipitation, solvent extraction, ion exchange, and electrowinning.
- Experience in the hydrometallurgical processing of commodities such as gold, base metals, uranium, and rare earth elements.
- Lead/assist in the cost estimation (capital and operating) of projects to evaluate their economic feasibility.
- Advise operations personnel on process changes required to optimise or expand pre-existing circuits.
- Interact with Clients/Client representatives to ensure quality and cost-effective deliverables on time.
- An understanding of diverse cultures and/or complex environments given the international nature of the business.
- Coordinate the collection of suitable samples for metallurgical test work purposes.
- Accountable to provide designated process engineering teams with appropriate quality and best practice in process engineering.
- Accountable for the preparation of designated study, project and proposal documents to ensure quality and accuracy of information.
- Accountable to ensure delivery of process services to designated study, project and proposal teams on or ahead of schedule and on or under budget.
- Accountable to participate in and contribute to the change process within the Process Group.
- Develop and manage metallurgical test work programmes carried out by a third-party laboratory.
- Quality of documentation and process information provided.
- Adhering to deadlines.
- Client satisfaction as a measure of alignment with client needs.
- Contribution to Wood's success in securing business and maintaining profitability.
- Contribution to the enhancement of value-adding outputs and positive teamwork within the Process Group.

Skills / Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Chemical / Process / Metallurgy or B Tech.
Desirable:
- Registered with ECSA or eligible for registration
- M Degree in a technical field
Knowledge, skills and experience:
- In-depth technical knowledge of process plant design and operation related to hydrometallurgical process engineering.
- Technical knowledge of process design and engineering of hydrometallurgical unit operations, such as leaching, precipitation, solvent extraction, ion exchange, and electrowinning.
- Ability to manage one's own activities on or ahead of schedule and on or below budget.
- Ability to deliver best practice plant design, with emphasis on cost-effective engineering.
- Ability to communicate process requirements to other members of the study, project or proposal team.
- Ability to prepare and deliver oral and written presentations for study and project reports and proposals.
- An understanding of the change process and an ability to participate in that process.

- Ability to manage a small feasibility study
- Have extensive knowledge of certain commodities or technologies within the hydrometallurgical sphere of process engineering
