Position description
We are seeking an Engineer to join SAMREF Max Chemicals (SMC) Division of the Liquid to Chemical Business & Project Development Department to develop technical scope of work for Invitation To Bid (ITB) documents, Facility Design Basis document, and technical interface bases (e.g. process rates & qualities to other units, utilities load, plot requirements). In addition, the candidate is expected to coordinate remote support for additional Process Specialists as-needed to support Licensor selection and technical basis-setting.
The Division is primarily responsible for SMC Project Development under Saudi Aramco In-Kingdom Liquids to Chemicals Program (IK LTC) and drive the development of project assessment, and the delivery of project requirements through FEL I, FEL II and FEL III.
SMC capital program is a refinery residue upgrade integrated with petrochemical steam cracker complex to be built in Yanbu, western region of Saudi Arabia. It is a part of Saudi Aramco In-Kingdom Liquids To Chemicals (IK LTC) program which includes similar projects to be developed at the same time.
Engineer I will be part of the Project Development & Technology team reporting to the Manager and work closely with other refinery and chemical engineers.
Minimum requirements
Successful candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a recognized and approved program.
A minimum of 15+ years of experience with a focus in the Refining & Chemicals business and their integration is required. A previous experience in Project Engineering, Design and Execution for chemicals plants is required. Candidate must be capable of providing technical input to LP, and Chemicals derivative process licensor selection.

Duties and responsibilities
You will be required to perform the following:
Refine and implement Capital Efficiency items identified from prior grassroots steam cracker complexes
Responsible for Steam Cracker and C4+ Co-products facility scope bases, technology selection recommendations, and technical input to LP and Economics
Define Steam Cracker and Co-products Licensor selection bid slates, selection criteria & methodology, with support from Technologist
Recommend adjustments to technical analysis (along with Technologist), review analysis by Economic modeler, and make Licensor technical recommendations
Develop, review & approve ITB documents, Facility Design Basis document, and technical interface bases (e.g. process rates & qualities to other units, utilities load, plot requirements) by Contractor
Develop plan for technical readiness for Steam Cracker and Co-products
Coordinate remote support for additional Process Specialists as-needed to support Licensor selection and technical basis-setting
