What is the role? The role of the Project Services Team Lead is to manage one multidisciplinary team of Project Services (Cost Control, Scheduling and Estimating) staff for complex business deliverables within our Technical Assets Operations Organization (TAO). The team provides remote support to a portfolio of small capital projects for the assigned Project Services deliverables including cost estimating, benchmarking, look back analysis, scheduling, cost control and reporting, and purchase requisitioning. This TAO Project Services Team Lead role will be dedicated to support remotely (from Chennai/Kuala Lumpur/ Manila). TAO teams support partners from Downstream-Manufacturing/Chemicals, Integrated Gas & New Energies, Upstream and Downstream assets and other Shell corporate functions. TAO teams are located across 4 locations: Chennai, Manila, Cyberjaya and Krakow.
Key accountabilities: - People Management and Technical Leadership :
- Ensure the team is high performing, passionate and cohesive. Team lead will manage about 12-15 frontline staff.
- Support technical competency development of staff.
- Coach and mentor staff on technical topics like estimating, scheduling and cost control methodologies, industry best practices equipment, processes, digitalization and tools as well as on soft skills such as stakeholder engagement, communication skills and continuous improvement.
- Inspire and develop the staff throughout the team.
- Create and foster a strong team spirit. Ensure that staff have a pleasant working environment.
- Operational delivery :
- Ensure that the team delivers on time, with required quality control and continuous improvement.
- Perform regular quality checks and actively monitor progress.
- Maintain high staff utilization and productivity.
- Ensure the teams are compliant with applicable standards, guidelines and applicable local requirements.
- Support recruitment and onboarding activities.
- Develop and maintain work instructions, quality plans, training and benchmarking materials.
- Ensure that trained staff are effectively deployed and the KPIs and deliverables are closely monitored and improved.
- Ensure that billing, time-writing and expense claims are executed in a timely manner.
- Collaborate effectively within TAO & other teams (key stakeholders at the Downstream Manufacturing and Chemicals facility, Projects & Technology, IT, Finance, Contracting and Procurement and other teams).
- Provide steer and direction:
- Encourage the teams to have a clear asset centricity and delivery focus.
- Provide clarity and direction to the team using GPA & business plans.
- Coach staff and support their development plan.
- Provide the technical steer to staff for assigned work stream(s)
- Enable the usage of digitalization, supporting technologies / IT tools.
- Support Account, Migration & Quality management:
- Support the TAO Deployment and Capability Leads in managing various activities related to Accounts, Migrations, QA/QC.
- Ensure compliance:
- Ensure that activities are executed in line with Shell's policies and standards. (Data privacy/protection, Code of Conduct, HSSE&SP, DEP, ORS, AMS processes & others).
Skills & Requirements Education & Experience: - University Degree in Engineering of any discipline.
- 8-10 years of work experience in Project Services in Oil & Gas/ Petrochemicals, EPC, Construction or Manufacturing.
- Experience in leading a large team in a virtual environment. A track record in building and sustaining teams.
- Experience of implementing change and continuous improvement projects.
- Able to demonstrate in-depth technical knowledge and required skill sets for the role.
- Solid hands-on experience in Project Controls, Scheduling, Cost Engineering, Cost Estimating, Project Management and other aspects of Project Services is a must.
- Able to proactively manage stakeholder expectations and experience in working across different cultures.
- Strong Computer background including experience with Primavera, SAP (preferred), estimating software (eg. CCET Tools).
- Preferably strong skills in Excel.
- Certification in Project Management from PMI / IPMA is preferred but not required
