What is the role

The Regional & Network Supply Optimization Lead role offers an excellent opportunity to impact the Lubricants business - driving monetary, customer satisfaction, and complexity reduction initiatives via an action focused approach supported with strong data analytical skills and self-motivated value hunting across the business. The Regional & Network Supply Optimization Lead role has two primary functions:

1.) To ensure that in the Month+2 horizon there is adequate supply to meet demand via driving and owning Step 3 in the S&OP Process. More specifically, will be responsible for ensuing each asset in the network is running optimally to maximize production, minimize cost, and maximize customer satisfaction. (Regional SPOs)

2.) To ensure that Shell Lubricants is executing the most optimal e2e value chain on any given day from sourcing of raw materials to selecting a production location to determine the route to market. This will entail understanding the cost dynamics of the business, modeling the value chain in a tool such as Coupa Supply Chain Design (LP Modeling), and then driving the execution of initiatives identified to close the value gap. (Network SPOs)

• Develop and maintain a digital model of the e2e supply chain to be able to optimize on multiple levers including:

o Total Cost to Serve

o Customer Satisfaction

o Co2/Sustainability

o Complexity Reduction

  • Run strategic analyses of future scenarios to recommend future supply chain design proposals to enable business growth in collaboration with sales, marketing and LSC.
  • Building and maintaining digital models of the Lubricants Supply Chain across various time frames (strategic, tactical) and geographies, and levels of granularity pertaining to the specific optimization problem at hand - ranging from high level center of gravity studies to detailed tank utilization studies and formulation constraint driven optimization.
  • Seek value opportunities & co-create solutions that stakeholders are motivated to implement as they solve their business needs
  • Drive studies from the theoretical to the executable - building strong degree of trust in the organization and stakeholder support to ensure that opportunities get executed to deliver value. Own the Midterm Planning Process to ensure in the outer months, supply is aligned with demand.
  • Track value delivery to ensure annual value targets are delivered through modeling activities
  • Own the relationship with Base Oil and Product Management Teams to ensure clear line of sight on market trends as well as strategic direction to proactively align Supply Chain to strategy vs. reactively responding to changing dynamics.
  • Update model with latest information quarterly (if not monthly) to be able to quantifiably show we are in control of business and are either actively working opportunities to close gaps or have eliminated opportunities for known reason.
  • Accountable to support large customer tenders to identify optimal sourcing and driving e2e cost optimization opportunities at a customer/channel level.
  • Act as subject matter expert for product sourcing and customer sourcing decisions.
  • Work with plant managers to drive initiatives that will improve flow at the assets - Tank Optimization, Raw Material Flow improvement, etc.
  • Map out all elements of the supply chain and ensure adequate availability of functional capability - e.g. logistics,
  • Direct Reports - This role will have up to 8 direct reports to support delivery. Some of these roles will be based in the US while some will be based in India (in support of the North America business). The successful candidate must be comfortable leading and doing so with a remote team as well.


What we need from you

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business
  • At least 10 years related experience with minimum of 3 years supervisory role directly lead or manage a team
  • Experience in process modeling with Coupa Supply Chain Design software is required
  • Experience from end to end Supply chain process management
  • Experience in the Oil and Gas industry is preferred
  • Proven high degree of analytical capability, a strong background in supply chain, and the ability to work collaboratively across functional and geographical boundaries in a complex stakeholder environment. (Required)
  • Strong prior experience with LP modeling in a business setting - modelling expertise that is developed via active involvement in various optimization projects (Required)
  • IT knowledge, especially data management and manipulation. The ability to Extract, Transform & Load (ETL) data especially
  • Ability to take qualitative statements and transform them into modelling logic.
  • Experience in econometric modelling, business analytics (DCF modelling, scenario technique, sensitivity analyses) (Required)
  • Ability to work with "non-sharp" data. Ability to hover between detail and the big picture - not getting lost in data (Required)
  • Supply chain background and/or experience - Planning and/or logistics experience is a plus (Required)
  • General knowledge on lubricants products - blending operations and grease manufacturing (Preferred)
  • Proven project management skills (Required)
  • Creative thinking outside the box: Ability to self-develop hypotheses and to test them - analytically and qualitatively (Required)
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization (Required)
  • High capacity and drive for delivery (Required)
  • Understanding of base oil sourcing, additives, customs duty implications (Preferred)
  • Ability to identify a problem, find the data/mine the data/etc to create a hypothesis, build a vision and and assemble a team, and deliver the value. (Required)
  • Self-starter who requires minimal supervision (Required)
  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities (Required)
  • Advanced computer skills: Excel, GSAP (APO & BW experience is a plus), PowerBI, RPA, etc. (Required)
  • Robust communication (verbal and written) and Stakeholder Management skills - Must have ability to synthesize story and data effectively. (Required)
  • Flexibility - the needs of the supply chain/business and this role can and will change as new opportunities/and challenges arise. The successful candidate must be flexible and have the ability to pivot quickly on changing priorities (Required)
