Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is currently recruiting for a Principal Piping Desginer with brownfield Oil & Gas experience support our current modifications portfolio and the detailed engineering phase of the Viscous Water Flooding Pilot (VWF) Phase 1 project for Equinor on the Mariner 'A' asset in the UK N.Sea. The role is for an initial 12-month contract PSC position though there is potential for further contract extension should workload permit.
The Polymer project involves topside modifications for the bunkering, storage, pumping, mixing and injection of Polymer emulsion for a Pilot well. The polymer injection downhole increases the viscosity of the injected water to increase oil recovery.
The modifications portfolio consists of the following types of scopes:
Primary focus of the role is to provide piping design expertise to the project team. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the piping team, providing design expertise to ensure delivery of projects to tight timescales in accordance with Client expectations. The individual will be expected to work largely under their own direction and will report to the contract Lead Piping Engineer.

- Rolling programme of Flowline & Well Hook-Up Scopes
- Production Enhancement Improvements - Add. Crude Cooler, PW Heat Exchanger, Resizing Export Control Valve
- Carbon Reduction Scopes - Flare KO Drum, Replace Steam Heater with Electric, Potable Water Heater
- Anomalies & Repair Order scopes

Key Responsibilities
- Provision of piping design expertise input to piping layout
- Define piping design requirements for technical scopes
- Development of deliverables and documentation for use in offshore construction workpacks
- Prepare purchase requisitions for the procurement of piping related material
- Ability/expertise to undertake design checking
- Provide support to the Lead Piping Engineer
- Provide support for interdisciplinary considerations through attendance at design reviews and IDC checking
- Execute facility engineering design in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
- Carry out work in accordance with company and project Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality systems
- Provide discipline specific guidance and coordinate delivery with remote team members in Global Execution Centres
Discipline Specific Requirements
- Brownfield Oil & Gas Piping Design Experience in the following areas is essential:
- Experience in pipe support design/detailing
- Clash checking against point cloud data in LFM / E3D
- Use of Navisworks for Model reviews
- Proficient with specialist software packages necessary to fulfil role (E3D, PDMS, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Microstation)
- Knowledge of International Codes & Client Standards (e.g. IEC, BS, Equinor TR etc)
- Ability to interpret piping material specifications, P&IDs and Line Lists

Skills / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with relevant considerable experience in Brownfield Oil & Gas Mods (10yr+)
