This three (3) months paid returnship will refresh your technical skills. In addition to technical training suited for your key job responsibilities, we provide professional development and peer mentoring with full access to SLB Technical communities. Our returnship is designed with an intent to hire in mind, i.e the possibility of becoming full-time employee after completion of the program with a technology leader in the Energy Industry.

Houston Formation Evaluation Center (HFE) is located in Sugar Land Texas.

Our multidisciplinary teams seamlessly create an impressive breadth of technology solutions.
Job Description and Responsibilities
Our ideal candidates are passionate about using technology to solve challenges once deemed "unsolvable." During the program the job responsibilities will include:
Assist in identifying and organizing requirements. Apply relevant usability procedures and principles.
Gather and analyze requirements and estimations.
Understand and help develop, publish and review technical documentation and requirements
Complete safety and environment standards training.
Upon completion of Returnship the participant will then develop into a skilled Embedded software engineer and will focus on designing and implementing the embedded software that is integral to SLB measurement and control systems. The training and job responsibilities will expand gradually to:
Design and implement software of embedded systems from requirements to production.
Design, develop, code, test and debug system software
Review code and design
Analyze and enhance efficiency, stability and scalability of system resources
Integrate and validate new product designs
Support software QA and HiL Testing
Interface with hardware design and development
Qualifications
Essential
A career break for two or more years
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience
Good understanding of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) principles as well as the ability to interpret, generate, and present technical material and problem solve
Ability with MS Office applications (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint)
Knowledge of National Instrument test systems would be preferred
Adequate knowledge of reading schematics and data sheets for components
Previous working experience in software engineering
Desirable
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
Previous experience working in a collaborative and diverse environment
Experience with working with multi disciplinary teams
Experience in hands-on development and troubleshooting on embedded targets
Programming experience in C and C++
Experience in embedded systems design with pre-emptive, multitasking real-time operating systems
Familiarity with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review
Experience in writing hardware and peripheral drivers
Adequate knowledge of reading schematics and data sheets for components
Knowledge in Arm and TI processors would be advantageous especially: Cortex series and 28xxx DSP
Experience in writing hardware and peripheral drivers
Excellent knowledge communication protocols such as CAN, RS232, RS485, SPI, I2C etc
