Responsibilities The Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with corporate, employment and VAT taxation matters for Weatherford. The role will be hands on with the preparation and review of returns/tax packs but also require proactiveness to see the larger scale business agenda. The role requires tax advice and recommendations to reduce the business risks and, where appropriate, maximise tax benefits. The candidate needs to ensure Weatherford are not only compliant with regulations but are ahead of the curve with legislation demands and changes. The roll will cover Asia Pac countries including but not limited to, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, India, Vietnam, Philippines.
Job Responsibilities: - Coordinates and manages the timely and accurate filing of all tax returns for Weatherford
- Oversees outsourced tax working paper preparation and manages any correction measures required with shared services function in India.
- Review of RTA and TBBS for US GAAP purposes.
- VAT processes
- Continual analysis of withholding taxes deductions specially regarding the intercompany transactions across several jurisdiction within the Geozone and outside, ensuring the right declaration and deduction, coordinating the tax certificates or documentation needed.
- Oversee Corporate tax, prepared by third party advisors and manage the relationship.
- Oversee employee's tax both from employment taxes as well as permanent establishment risk.
- Managing the relationship with the tax authorities alongside educating the wider group on any tax legislative changes and associated impact.
- Work closely with local finance people to provide training and ensure correct tax accounting.
- Manage the response and resolution of tax enquires/audits.
- Compliance with transfer pricing regulations and assist with the preparation of transfer pricing documentation prepared by the TP team.
- Tax support to the Geozone, key support for tendering team regarding all aspects of taxation, when bidding for work.
- Coordinate with project teams regularly to identify tax risk, PE creation, and provide advice during the project execution.
- Communicate with external advisors in several countries and negotiate contracts to minimized fees.
- Recommend process changes/additions in response to legislative developments.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration or related qualification from college or university.
- Relevant professional accounting or taxation accreditation.
- At least 10 years' tax experience, having at least 7 years' tax experience in Asia Pacific.
- Strong tax foundation with reporting and compliance experience.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience in an organization with business in several countries.
- Can adapt to a fast-paced organization.
- General good IT knowledge and skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and autonomously as required.
- Exercise initiative to improve accounting routines and financial reporting.
- Good English both verbal and written.
