BASIC FUNCTION:

The Lansing Technical Center (LTC) is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join the team. In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for primary work involved in the Fabrication/High Bay area providing compounding, molding and lab testing support for development engineers, production facilities, and customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Due to the wide range of functions that the Lansing lab supports this position needs to be flexible to cover any of the following lab responsibilities:

* Assist with raw materials management; inventory, ordering, SDS review, etc… This will require collaborative work with various manufacturing plants * Weighing laboratory sized Polypropylene Compound raw material blends * Manage/perform pilot line scale compounding of TPO materials for new and existing product developments, utilizing the twin-screw extrusion lines * Manage various molding requests from internal development engineers, as well as for external production/customer support * Operation of injection molding machines; mold test specimens according to ASTM/ISO/OEM standards * Perform various mold frame and tool changes * Perform test specimen prep * Maintain and perform routine maintenance on extrusion and molding equipment

* Perform tests in a laboratory setting and perform various lab activities

* Assist with shipping and receiving tasks * Follow all corporate/facility safety guidelines and HR practices * Support all operations, engineering, and customer needs

QUALIFICATIONS: Shall be able to work 40+ hours per week Monday through Friday.

Education: Minimum High School diploma, GED or equivalent

Work Experience: No prior industry experience needed. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds as required. Experience in Laboratory and/or manufacturing setting desired. Training or exposure to compounding and testing physical properties of polymers preferred.

Critical Competencies/Behaviors: Self-motivated, Open to training and learning experiences, proven problem-solving ability, good communication - written & verbal, work planning skills and teamwork attitude.

Skills: Familiarity with basic IT skills is a plus; Microsoft Office email, Excel, Word, SAP and databases.
