Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is currently sourcing an experienced Structural Supervisor to join the Wood team in Manila.
Field job responsibilities
- Make sure that Subcontractor material stocks are sufficient to keep up with work's schedule
- Check Subcontractor field surveying, establish with Subcontractor reference bench marks for elevation and alignment as per scope of works request and check their correct execution (including topographical calculations) and send a check advise in time to the Client
- Check proper execution of the Subcontractor work and check any part for concrete construction preparation before concrete is poured and record it
- Check and approve alignment and elevation of foundations, and type and position of anchor bolts, plates and templates and record it
- Make sure that materials used are in accordance with project technical documents and applicable codes and specifications
- Supervise the erection of steel structures, steel work components, platforms and ladders
- Ensure that Wood Subcontractor views steel structure foundation drawings for size, range and placement of shims
- Ensure that Subcontractor checks and accepts location, size, projection and condition of anchor bolts prior the work starts
- Prior to starting work the Subcontractor must produce a method statement which shows:
- Location of crane/s
- Material lay down/preassembly area.
- Location of warehouse
- Method of bolting at height e.g. scaffold, man box or from steelwork with safety
- Ensure that Subcontractor uses the correct size and type of spanner for bolting up
- Ensure Subcontractor can remove slings safely
- Ensure that Subcontractor 'slings' the steel members correctly with nylon type slings and no lift takes place without tag lines
- Ensure that the Subcontractor carries out repairs to any damage of the steelwork finish coat, e.g. galvanizing as per the approved repair procedure
- Ensure that machine bolts are installed the correctly
- Ensure steel structures are aligned and leveled by Wood independent surveyor before final bolting up. Witnessed and signed off
- Ensure that bolts are tightened as per specification using a torque wrench witnessed and signed off
- Ensure nuts and bolts are greased as per specifications
- Ensure that any steelwork repairs are carried out with an approved procedures, qualified welders, approved consumables, all holes are drilled not flame cut. Repair work is cleaned and recoated as per approved finish coating repair procedure
Skills / Qualifications
- Vocation, Diploma, or bachelor's degree in civil or related field
- Read plotplans . structural steel drawings, structural steel fabrication drawings
- Knowledge of welding symbols
- minimum 10 year experience in a construction department in a structural steel fabrication environment
