Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is currently recruiting for a Civil / Structural Engineer with experience in the process and chemicals industry to work as part of a site team at our client's facility in Pittsburgh, PA.

Contributes to project technical delivery through:
- Pre-turnover construction walkdowns
- Quality assurance on ongoing projects
- Support to small projects ran by client's maintenance team
- Ongoing inspection program set up and management
- Building up site civil / structural document database
- Design of structural steel modifications to existing site structures as required
- Review / verification of completed client civil / structural punch list items (weekly site field walks)
- Review and preparation of underground services drawings as required
- Role will include desk work
- Must be physically fit and able to carry out daily field /site visits as required
- Role is site based at a job work site that has uneven surfaces and would require a lot of walking around the site (could be up to 1 mile of walking on some days)
- Not expected to be walking on site all day or every day, however as required, may be on a daily basis
- Climbing multiple staircases on site structures
- Requires accessing elevated structures using staircases, some are very high, well over 100's feet high. Will not be required to work at height (i.e. with a safety harness) just access elevated structures using the structure staircase(s)
- Requires taking field measurements and site photos - would need to bend, squat, crawl to some areas to take measurements
- Will involve pre-turnover construction walkdowns in all areas of the site
- Able to work in an outdoor environment (summer temperatures could be 95 degrees with humidity, winter temperature below freezing with icy conditions)
Skills / Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (minimum) in Civil / Structural Engineering discipline
- Pennsylvania PE license preferred but not required
- Working knowledge of industry codes, regulations, and standards (ACI, AISC, ASCE, API, PIP, IBC, etc)
- Proficiency with industry software (STAAD Pro, Fdn 3D, Mat 3D, LPILE, DSAnchor, RAM, MathCAD, AutoCAD, Hexagon S3D, etc)
- Experience with undergrounds, earthworks, geotechnical interfaces, foundations, buildings, steel structures, etc.
- Experience with brownfield project scopes, field verification and designs
- Able to provide quick turnaround design / support as required
- Responsive, self-motivated, and able to go onto site at a moment notice, and provide design input
- Good interface skills, able to interact with the client and site team
- Enthusiastic, conscientious, and committed to continuous professional development
- High level of awareness and commitment to safety in all aspects of daily work
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Highly motivated and demonstrates personal initiative
- Possesses integrity, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and is dependable
