Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a SPOC/ Loto Technician with offshore Oil and Gas commissioning experience. The location for this position will be Ingleside, TX.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: The SPOC operates under the direction and authority of the HSE Manager and Permit to Work Coordinator and is responsible for the walkdown and confirmation of permit isolations of hazardous energy in an oil and gas facility. Assist with PTW's, JSEA's and any HSE issues that may arise.

KEY OBJECTIVES OF THE JOB: Under general supervision, to coordinate, facilitate and ensure that all documentation necessary for LOTO, SIMOPS and Custody Tags are completed and logged as well as to perform additional duties as assigned.

CRITICAL SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: Be responsible for understanding and executing Wood's Safety Policies and Procedures throughout all phases of the project. Personal safety awareness and team safety awareness are necessary.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advise and assist personnel with requests for isolations, type of documentation needed to begin work as well as what approval levels are required to complete a permit isolation (LOTO)
  • Complete walk-downs on systems prior to mechanical completion.
  • Immediately after handover from Construction has been completed, the SPOC will identify the equipment specified on the MC1 with the proper signage/custody tags/custody locks, etc.
  • Maintain Custody Transfer Log (Construction to Commissioning and Commissioning to Operations).
  • Assist personnel with Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) by verifying isolation devices are installed in/on approved isolation points.
  • Manage Isolation register for LOTO Worksheets and other associated LOTO document.
  • Verify accuracy of the SIMOPS board(s).
  • Liaise with the PTW Coordinator for consultation or questions regarding permit type/LOTO/and updates to work fronts and assist the PTW/LOTO training group when needed.
  • Manage and maintain central filing system for all records related to audits.
  • Assist PTW/HSE in completion of the weekly HSE Status Report
  • Coordinate activities with other departments and staff.
  • Establish positive working relationships with immediate supervision and personnel from other departments.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and written. Be able to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Other duties as may be assigned or requested.


Skills / Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Knowledge of:

  • Isolation of hazardous energy
  • Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) experience required
  • Electrical or Instrumentation systems, theory and practice
  • Process flow and process safety
  • Ability to read P&ID's and One Line Drawings
  • Microsoft Office Programs
  • Clerical Skills


Education and Experience:

A combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. Five (5) years of responsible experience in the in the offshore oil and gas industry with strong lock out tag out, isolation of hazardous energy and electrical and/or instrumentation background.
