Job Purpose
Understand the machinery constructions and maintenance methods such as proactive / preventive / corrective maintenance being followed in operating units and assist them in making changes and improve readiness of maintenance with sufficient time before maintenance activities begin.
Analyze technical data, drawings (P&IDs. PEFS, PFD, SLD etc.) documents and processes for Upstream businesses across the globe by working with engineering, maintenance, operations and project teams & partners.
Create technical monitoring plans for equipment based on criticality and deploy these plans in exception-based surveillance tools or other identified monitoring tools
Developing remote monitoring models for rotating /static equipment, process valves and enable the data accessible to rotating engineers within shell.
Carry out surveillance for various Upstream, Downstream and Integrated Gas facilities of Shell using exception-based tools.
Support Shell assets in improving reliability through monitoring of facilities and equipment and prevent unscheduled deferments
Enable the assigned Shell's Upstream/IG/DS Operating units, and it's on site employees in producing high value information and data for high quality asset maintenance / condition monitoring / performance improvements.
Assist onsite condition monitoring / rotating equipment engineers in understanding the data models and help them to improve the availability of the equipment.
Support projects, maintenance & improvements activities performed at the upstream & intergrated gas operating units.

This role is expected to provide Proactive Technical Monitoring support to Shell's Upstream, Downstream and Integrated Gas in improving reliability of their rotating equipment by preventing unscheduled deferment through monitoring.
Assurance projects to extract, analyze, calculate and implement the data in such a way to be useful by site engineers (rotating/process/maintenance)
Provision, as subject matter expert (SME), for Technical Support that enables the Site to leverage the benefits of utilizing the Engineering Tools to the fullest extent.
Participation in Group and Operational Excellence(OE) team efforts to Standardize processes, tools, benchmarks, standards and best practices.
Principal Accountabilities

Technical data extraction from machine drawings, PEFS, seal gas P&ID, Lube oil P&ID, seal oil P&ID, seal gas P&ID, instrument drawings, vibration & temperature P&ID, alarm/trip matrix, performance curves and data sheet.
Developing and deployment of monitoring variables in various tools diagnostics tools like smartconnect models (a remote monitoring & diagnostics tool developed by Shell), PTM Hub and UAS to enable health and performance monitoring of equipment
Quality check and trouble shooting of the PTM models and following up with IT team for redeployment.
Engaging with stake holders and Operating units for building/reviewing monitoring plans and their deployment and post that for surveillance
May also be involved with diagnostics experts in solving complex maintenance issues or failure/trip analysis of equipments
Recording the improvement activities and issues faced during development and troubleshooting in inssues & improvements log.
Support other discipline experts in an integrated surveillance approach so as to come up with a complete solution package for prevention of unscheduled deferments through PTM for the asset

Although the role involves the remote support to the upstream operating units/sites. However, the candidate should be willing to travel to various operating units/sites across the globe as per requirements.

Mandatory Education/Experience:
University Degree in Mechanical engineering and required 5+ yrs. of industrial/field experience in operations and maintenance/engineering/ technical jobs in Oil & Gas/ Petrochemicals with experience in: -
Design, maintenance, troubleshooting experience and Knowledge of rotating machines such as centrifugal compressor, gas turbine, steam turbine, centrifugal pump, reciprocating compressor, screw compressor, positive displacement pump, Induced/Forced draught fan, cooler fan and blower.
Understanding machine drawings, PEFS, seal gas P&ID, Lube oil P&ID, seal oil P&ID, seal gas P&ID, instrument drawings, vibration & temperature P&ID, alarm/trip matrix, performance curves and data sheet of rotating equipment.
Experience and knowledge in rotating machines performance and health monitoring.
Working knowledge/Experience in vibration analysis, thermography, lube oil analysis and other condition monitoring techniques will be preferred.
Experience in erection/commissioning/troubleshooting of heavy rotating equipment's such as gas turbines, steam turbines, Reciprocating and centrifugal compressors is desirable.
Knowledge/Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Access etc., is highly desirable.
A high level of comfort in using computer-based tools for remote monitoring and diagnostics. Advanced spreadsheet skill required.
Good interpersonal and communication skills, analytical skills and attention to details are essential to build a strong team and working spirit within the team.
