You'll be joining a new and exciting department in Shell's Power Technology division. The Electrification Technology group is creating the business of the future by deploying today's & developing tomorrow's integrated electrification products, ranging from power to heat to electrification of large drives and the associated electrical systems. Electrification is one of the key enablers to achieve deep decarbonisation alongside other technologies such as biomass, carbon capture, and hydrogen. The team consists of a diverse range of technical and commercial enthusiasts all looking to make a difference to the energy transition.
What's the role -
As an Electrical Systems Researcher you will be working with multi-skilled teams in the techno-commercial development of differentiated, end-to-end power distribution solutions to enable large scale electrification of industrial customers in Shell, Renewables & Energy Solutions (R&ES) and hard to abate sectors.
More specific responsibilities include:
- Work with the businesses and technology teams to develop electrification solutions
- Act as power distribution system designer and lead development of novel solutions from research to design to implementation including bringing feedback from operating phase
- Evaluation of emerging power system technologies and growing Transmission System Operator (TSO) challenges to secure a path of renewable energy to the assets of today and the power systems of tomorrow
- Perform power system component and hardware in the loop testing
- Evaluate emerging power system technologies through scouting, systematic benchmarking, and due diligence
- Perform techno-commercial analysis, market scans of technology, benchmarking, and opportunity valuation.
What we need from you -
- A legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with at least five (5) years' experience in relevant fields such as: system design, product development, R&D, techno-commercial valuation and opportunity development, and electrification technologies
Specific skills and experiences must include:
Your excellent technical and commercial expertise, end-to-end integration and stakeholder management skills, ability to rapidly learn, and passion in the Energy Transition.
Other key skills and requirements:
- Industry and operational experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, and industrial sectors is a plus
- Consulting and client engagement experience is a plus
- Experience in product development, technology maturation (gated process) and/or project management.
- Experience in IP strategy and management.
- Ability to learn fast and operate in natural teams and matrix organisation
- Demonstrated relationship management experience at different levels of the organisation with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Continued commitment to deliver HSSE excellence for personnel and operations.
