Wood is recruiting for a Subsea Controls System Engineer to support current and future workload within our subsea consultancy team.

This role will be based in our Aberdeen office with hybrid working available.

The Role

Our Subsea Controls Systems Team provides solutions to our client's challenges in order to create efficient and reliable systems that benefit the client and environment. The team repair and maintenance of our client's brownfield systems, alongside designing new projects in increasingly demanding locations. The position provides an opportunity to make a positive impact in all stages of project design for Concept, FEED and Detailed Design. Additionally we provide Operations technical expertise internationally, both onshore and offshore.

As a Subsea Controls engineer within Wood Consultancy division you will have the opportunity to use your technical knowledge and experience to advise clients on the best approach for their system design and follow through from concept to installation and operation. Your work will have a direct impact on the decisions made by the client and will be instrumental in improving subsea controls systems for the future.

The role involves a combination of skills including subsea controls system design, installation, commissioning, maintenance, and diagnosis. Typical Responsibilities
  • Apply your technical knowledge to progress project designs and operation methodologies
  • Be directly responsible for influencing and guiding client technical decisions
  • Assess and provide solutions to novel engineering challenges
  • Create and maintain design records for future interventions and planning
  • Actively participate in design and safety reviews
  • Build relationships with vendors to stay informed of innovative technology
  • Be an active part of a multi-discipline teams of engineers in the completion assignments for exacting clients
  • Manage the relationship with clients and vendors
  • Deliver tasks on time, to budget and to the required standard
  • Comply with internal systems and processes for Technical Standards and Assurance
  • Attend client meetings and undertake site visits within the UK and globally
  • Represent the company at conferences and seminars in order to enhance personal and team knowledge
  • Ensure continuing professional development

  • E ducated to Bachelor's or Masters Degree level in one or more of the following;
    • Electrical,
    • Electrical and Mechanical
    • Electronic,
    • Mechatronic,
    • Offshore Renewables,
    • Telecommunications
    • R elated technical courses will be considered
  • Advocate and lead by example for highest levels of safety in all aspects of work
  • Proven pro-active problem solving & analytical ability
  • Previous experience providing technical and innovative solutions to clients
  • Proven ability to communicate and present with/to all levels of the business internally and externally
  • Demonstrable technical writing skills
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to project delivery
  • Proven organisational skills in managing multiple deliverables and priorities

  • Understanding of commercial aspects of project management and execution
  • Understanding of categorisation and mitigation of risk
  • UK Driving license
  • Project design lifecycle experience and understanding
  • Experience in the installation, commissioning and operation of onshore or offshore energy projects
  • Experience working offshore
  • Experience in power cable design and electrical analysis techniques
