Overview:

The primary objective of Procurement Assistant will be to support Procurement through the purchase of goods and services supporting Operations, Capital Projects and Turnaround activity.  This is a key role in the implementation of the procurement model for the client. This role will be a officed in either Houston, TX or St. James, LA and will help drive the optimization of purchasing capabilities for the client, while making sure that needs are met. 

This role is aligned to the purchasing function and will receive guidance and direction from Procurement Specialist Category Lead Site Services & Capital Equipment/MRO Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Support cross-functional groups and locations
  • Contact Vendors, Suppliers and contractors to obtain requested information (i.e. quotes, vendor data, rates etc.)
  • Backup support for Vendor Master
  • Scheduling meetings (i.e. bid meetings, scoping meeting etc.)
  • Process routine Material, Service, Capital and Turnaround Purchase Orders
  • Maintain ISNetworld Account - Approved Manufacturing Suppliers
  • Procurement Support of Turnaround efforts all locations
  • Communicates vendor performance to procurement services
  • Assist the Turnaround Cost Tracking Team with Invoices and Accruals
  • Understand, follow and enforce the Procurement Policy

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
  • 2 to 5 years procurement experience
  • Computer hardware skills to maintain and operate PCs, printers, fax and Xerox machines
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Ability to develop and troubleshoot MS Excel formulas/links/pivot tables
  • Functional knowledge of SAP
  • Proactive self-starter with little oversight required, capable of managing competing priorities
  • Strong problem-solving, and effective communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Strong Project Management skills; highly organized with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Flexible working schedule
Ability to interface and communicate clearly and effectively (both orally and written) across all levels of the organization, including senior management
