Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Civil / Structural Superintendent with extensive experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry to work on a Fixed term contract at site on our refinery project in Sweden. The project consists of revamping the existing unit including other necessary modifications to produce diesel out of a mixture of renewables.

Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure contractors dimensional control methods for checking that all works are properly set out and satisfactory
  • Supervise specialist surveying contractors when necessary
  • Ensure all quality control checks and tests are instigated, with records maintained and available as required for structural steelwork etc, all in accordance with contractors' agreed ITP, method statements and project specifications
  • Ensure, prior to work commencing, that all material, equipment, scaffolding, and other required materials are available
  • Ensure effective control and design of all falseworks, shuttering and formworks. Check that access roads / routes and equipment are in accordance with practical temporary works procedures and calculations. Where necessary, ensure competent technical review of temporary works design etc.
  • Ensure effective site speed control, with safety speed limit signs available and that there are sufficient direction signs indicating access roads / routings for planned transport of manpower and materials to workface locations and storage areas
  • Ensure contractors carry out all excavations and trenching in a logical fashion, minimising site disruption and that they provide safety barriers, signage and trench crossings in accordance with the HSES plan

 


Skills / Qualifications

 

 

 

  • Previous experience in a similar role on a refinery project
  • Previous EPCm experience
  • Brownfield and shutdown experience preferred
  • Experience of managing multiple construction contractors
