The size and complexity of Shell Trading & Supply (T&S) has increased substantially over the past few years and the expectations around risk management from a regulatory perspective have also shifted for Energy trading. We are therefore strengthening the risk management capabilities of the organisation from a people, process, data and systems perspective in both the first and second lines of defence.

Risk Transformation is a key component of the overall T&S Vision and Strategy as part of the commitment in investment in risk systems, reporting and analytics. This spans Credit Risk, Market Risk and Operational Risk.

The Market Risk Program Manager role is specifically intended to bring all the Market Risk Transformation workstreams and projects within the Risk function together and support to clearly consolidate, track and report on overall progress and communication to key stakeholders.

What's the role?

The Market Risk Program Manager will be responsible for the following:
  • Program manage and bring together a single consistent view of all Market Risk related programs, progress and areas of focus - projects, resourcing, issues, plans
    • Working with the Project Sponsors (BOMs) and PM's, defines, plans and monitors programme execution with the appointed Governance - in line with the central delivery framework
    • Embeds the Governance Framework and supports the BOM in effective decision-making processes
    • Programme co-ordination, (using Microsoft Projects) including identifying project inter-dependencies
    • Cross programme resource management
    • Managing the programme within agreed time, budget and scope.
    • Identifying and addressing Risks and Issues across the Programme
    • Ensures fit-for-purpose Programme Management processes and standards
  • Interface with accountable market risk project managers to bring together a consolidated Market Risk view
  • Production, tracking & reporting of progress/completion of projects across Market Risk
  • Manage the overall Risk Transformation agenda to key stakeholders namely 1) Executive Committee, 2) Business & 3) Risk Team and 4) CFO and Finance Leadership Team and (5) Project Decision Boards
  • Regular internal communication of Market Risk Transformation progress
  • Central accountability of all T&S projects requiring Risk resources and associated impact


What we need from you?

We are keen to hear from candidates with the following expertise touched by their work experience:
  • Extensive experience in program management, preferably with Microsoft Project knowledge
  • Stakeholder management
  • Integrator / Collaborator
  • Planning, mobilisation and delivery of change initiatives
  • High quality written and visual presentation skills (Word, Powerpoint)
  • Excellent attention to detail, methodical, organized
  • Resilient when working under pressure, with the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines
  • Self-starter, highly motivated, outcome driven
  • Good judgement to provide advice, question discrepancies, escalate issues
  • Learner mindset: innovative and creative, excellent problem-solving capabilities
