Where you fit in
Reporting to the Head of Compliance Strategy and Delivery, the Compliance Project Delivery Senior Specialist is a member of the Strategy & Delivery team within Trading & Supply (T&S) Compliance. You will be a key enabler in the delivery of T&S Compliance second Line of Defence (LOD2) projects and strategic initiatives to enhance to the overall T&S Compliance Framework.
What's the role?
The Compliance Delivery team is a group of highly driven Compliance professionals focussed on using their broad knowledge of Compliance frameworks, risks and controls to deliver solutions to enhance the T&S Compliance Framework.
The projects within the portfolio will range from initiatives to continually review and improve Compliance tools, processes and data to implementation of new regulatory requirements and integration of new T&S businesses / acquisitions.

What's the role?
The Compliance Delivery team is a group of highly driven Compliance professionals focussed on using their broad knowledge of Compliance frameworks, risks and controls to deliver solutions to enhance the T&S Compliance Framework.
The projects within the portfolio will range from initiatives to continually review and improve Compliance tools, processes and data to implementation of new regulatory requirements and integration of new T&S businesses / acquisitions.
You will be expected to:
- Use your compliance risk expertise to support the team in establishing a projects pipeline in alignment with overall T&S Compliance strategy and priorities.
- Work with the wider Compliance teams to identify and scope strategic, operational, or tactical solutions to complex issues in order better manage Compliance risk or enhance operational efficiency.
- Provide input into project prioritisation process for compliance or regulatory projects.
- Deliver a portfolio of projects using a combination of other permanent resources within the team, flexible contractor / consultant resources and Subject Matter Experts from within the rest of the Compliance team. This will require you to use their broad knowledge of compliance frameworks, risks, and controls to:
- Capture risk issues, value drivers and high-level requirements to define the problem statement and obtain buy-in for each project from a diverse and senior stakeholder community.
- Define scope and outcomes of any project as well as delivery approach with resource, timeline and budget (factoring in any interdependencies with other compliance projects and BAU deliverables).
- Establish fit for purpose governance to ensure each project delivers against its objectives, has effective decision-making processes and maintains senior stakeholder support.
- Assess risks, feasibility, opportunities and compliance team impacts of various solution options.
- Partner with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver each project to plan and budget.
- Effectively manage and report on status, risks and issues within each project, with escalation as needed.
- Transition project deliverables into compliance functional teams.
- Capture and share successes and learnings to enhance future projects.
- Maintain strong and collaborative working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across the wider T&S Compliance team, T&S businesses, IT and external 3rd parties as needed.
- Participate and represent Shell in external working groups in efforts to ensure best practices for Compliance.
- Provide advice and support of more junior Delivery team resources.
What we need from you
Along with your bachelor's degree from an accredited university or equivalent work experience, we hope to see the following in your CV:
- Experience in compliance risk and controls in consulting, financial services, trading organisations or regulators.
- Technical knowledge and experience across a broad spectrum of trading compliance functional domains and knowledge of global financial regulatory compliance requirements.
- Broad knowledge of one or more segments of the T&S businesses (including Crude, Products, Energy, Shipping, Operations and Supply) and a strong understanding of trading instruments, trading strategies, and risk concepts.
- Strong project management, change management and continuous improvement expertise, with demonstrated ability to manage several projects at once and comfortable working in fast-paced, changing environment.
- Ability to balance execution efficiency with risk mitigation, value delivery, cost, and quality
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills including the ability to design solutions to problems and translate design into implantation actions.
- Ability to deliver through others outside of a direct of reporting line and remain focused and productive under pressure and recover quickly from setbacks.
- Robust written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of an organisation, both internally and externally, and engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
