Shell Technology (PTX) provides innovative technology solutions and technical support to the growing agendas and programmes in R&ES EV Charging Services and Downstream Mobility. Many of these technical development programs aim to develop Shell's position in the heavy-duty, off-road electrification sector.

The advertised role will perform the Grid Interface Workstream Lead function within the technical teams, supporting cross sectoral projects between mining, construction, aviation and marine. For these off-road sectors, we aim to develop - test and demonstrate working prototypes of the end-to-end solution by the Electrification of Mining Trucks within the next 2 years in Shell test facilities.

What's the role?

The E-Mobility Grid Interface Workstream Lead will report to the Team Lead Fleet within the E-Mobility GM-ship which is part of the Power Technology VP-ship. This role will also have dotted reporting line to the Project Managers in the Sector Project Teams.

You'll play significant and visible role in paving the way for the successful development of an end-to-end heavy duty electrification solutions within highly capable, committed and collaborative team atmosphere. The role also offers the opportunity to grow and develop in an area, that is critical to Shell's future ambitions in the electrification and decarbonization of the hard to abate sectors which Shell's Sectors and Decarbonisation Programs are targeting.

More specifically, your responsibilities will include:
  • Manage and maintain documentation produced by Grid Interface Workstream partners (such as) technical functional requirements, interface requirements, testing plans, Single Line Diagrams, Schematics, schedule etc.
  • Manage and maintain action trackers for Grid Interface Workstream partners including follow-up with relevant action party holders and reporting to senior project management
  • Provide support and input to the project risk register for the Grid Interface Workstream risk and opportunities
  • Provide support and input to the overall project schedule for Grid Interface Workstream scopes
  • Provide support and input to the project lessons learned register
  • Interface and coordinate with Subject Matter Experts and Work Stream Lead's to ensure timely delivery of workstream deliverables including functional & detailed system requirements, interface specification, testing requirement etc.
  • Input to relevant project documentation and presentations for internal and external leadership team meetings
  • Performs the interface management role with the relevant Grid Interface Workstream Partners to ensure that the Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) are able to seamlessly integrate and operate within the High-Power Charging System (MCS)
  • Works closely with selected EPC contractors for the Electrical Power scope including the integration of DER, Local Grid, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and associated Electrical Distribution equipment
  • Develop, with partners and selected EPC, operation philosophies for the Local Power distribution system
  • Develop, with partners and selected EPC, maintenance philosophies and requirements for the Local Power System including electrical distribution and generation equipment particularly for DERs
  • Monitor and provide technical support, where required for the testing of workstream specific equipment initially at the partner's premises and latterly at the system integration test at the Shell Lab Facilities


What we need from you
  • Master's degree (min) in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or equivalent discipline
  • Substantial industry experience of Electrical Engineering within Capital Projects
  • Relevant experience in the design, development, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of integrated electrical systems including electrical generation and distribution
  • Track record of successfully contributing to project development and delivery
  • Experience in the coordination of subsystem providers and vendors including requirements development, management, and traceability e.g. performing Package Engineer role for electrical packages within capital projects
  • Knowledge or experience of working with DER is preferred
  • Familiar with systems engineering technical development approach is preferred
  • Strong personal drive to meet deadlines and specific targets
  • Strong personal leadership in HSSE
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills who can demonstrate clear evidence of working with cross discipline teams to deliver on goals
  • Delivers results through others and can influence without authority
  • Proficient in report writing and developing presentations (as well) as commonly used software applications
  • Experience working on heavy duty vehicle electrification a pre
