Overview / Responsibilities Wood (trading locally as WOOD KSS LLP) is currently recruiting for a Lead Civil/Structural Engineer with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry (for KZ passport holders).
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the management of Civil/Structural Discipline
- Check calculations and designs by engineers and provide feedback to encourage them to improve their engineering skills
- Provide engineering input to Basis of Design, Design Reports and FEED studies
- Supervise preparation of Job Packs and Material Requisitions
- Under general supervision, independently applies advanced engineering techniques, makes decisions on engineering problems and methods, and represents the organization in conferences to resolve important questions or to negotiate with key engineers and officials of other organizations
- Provides technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers and is consulted extensively by associates and others
- demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving engineering problems efficiently and economically; Will usually be a Licensed/Chartered Professional Engineer
- Typical work scope for the Civil/Structural group includes: steel pipe-racks, and bridges, access stairs and platforms, buildings, reinforced concrete foundations and below ground structures, earthworks, roads, drainage, and occasional architectural work
- As the Lead, plans, budgets, organizes, coordinates and controls the project and is responsible for employee performance appraisals and for coaching and developing lower level professionals
Skills / Qualifications - Higher (technical) education
- Work experience in the respective position no less than 10 years
- Ability to provide guidance and direction to project team, managing, motivating and mentoring professional engineering specialists
- Ability to discover issues and recommend solutions to technical and commercial issues uncovered during course of performing assignments
- Proficient user of relevant software and calculation templates
- Professional level of ability in the application of standards, processes and procedures and how they are used in work execution
- Professional level of knowledge of applicable codes and standards
- Technically competent in own discipline, pursues continuous professional development of skills and knowledge according to standards
- Maintains own knowledge of relevant regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives and industry technology developments and promotes to direct reports
- Applies mature professional knowledge and experience to assignments where issues and factors to be considered may be characterized by unsual demands and require additional evaluation to establish the nature and scope of the problem
- Demonstrated ability to apply advanced laws, principles, mathematics or industry knowledge in the improvement and development of designs
- Demonstrated skills in persuasion, negotiation, motivation and communication
- Demonstrated proficiency in project planning
- Possess a working knowledge of the various Business Units, Functions, Sectors and services offered within business area, and general understanding of other business offerings
- Requires mature professional knowledge in planning and conducting assignments having scope for co-ordination of difficult tasks
