Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a TAR Planner with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry.

  • Responsible for planning and scheduling all activities for turnaround.
  • Develop all the work plans by coordinating the activities of the work preparers for all discipline including maintenance, operation, projects
  • Develop, with the support of T/A scheduler, the integrated schedule by assembling the work plans in the scheduling tool (most preferably Primavera) according to the Schedule premises approved by the TEM and the TAC
  • Coordination with numerous other disciplines that impact the turnaround: Contracting and procurement, Logistic, Finance, HSSE...
  • Expected to be involved in one major T/A at a time, or in multiple T/A of lower complexity.
  • Intimately familiar with the turnaround work process
  • Coaching in liason with the IAPS Lead the minimum standards expected for adherance to the Shell UK IAPS Process
  • Support provided towards IAPS Process Improvement initiatives.
  • HSSE: To act at all times in accordance with the Policy on Health, Safety and Environment and plan for maintenance activities accordingly. Ensure all HSSE requirements are considered in the Planning and scheduling process.
  • IAPS Process: facilitation of on the job training and coaching to support process adherance and data standards governance in accordance with Shell UK specific IAPS process.
  • Turnaround Planning and Execution: To deliver effective Turnaround planning/scheduling for all TA related activities (Maintenance, Operation, project) including:
  • gathering work packages with detailed information for planning and execution;
  • Data entry / import of detail job plans and estimates into scheduling tool.
  • preparing logistics and environmental plans
  • Identification, review, and escalation of high-risk activities and communicates key issues and risks to the T/A Coordinator and/or T/A Event Manager.
  • Implements T/A Scheduling Premise document with
  • Developing and loading schedule logic
  • Development and understanding of critical path and near critical path jobs
  • Resource levelling for the event
  • Sufficient quality and detailed reports for management and supervision to steer the event
  • Where this role covers a partial TA event - work together with lead scheduler to optimize the master schedule.
  • Field Co-ordination: in many cases the planner /scheduler acts as field coordinator during the execution of an event with following responsibilities.
  • Update schedule.
  • Responsible for schedule quality aspects and completion status;
  • Management of turnaround files and records.
  • Participates in Lessons Learned and Look back process looking for improvements in terms of planning and scheduling.
  • Management of (Scope) Change: Report back on daily schedule and work with Operations, Discipline Engineers and T/A (Block) and Field Coordinators on changes.
  • Turnaround and IAPS Metrics: Report back on daily schedule /activities to support monitor and reporting of T/A KPI and facilitate discussions within IAPS team on Stability, Readiness and Delivery
  • Turnaround budgets: Support cost management initiative where applicable.
  • Job requires High level of technical knowledge in Planning for all discipline and in Flawless principles
  • Capability to utilised norms for planning and ensure proper control is in place
  • Logic based understanding of the business impact of the workscopes within a shutdown
  • Ability to review all work methods and related job safety analysis
  • Control availability of all bill of material for assigned work, requisitions material, and ensures all material will be delivered before feed out of unit.
  • To be the Quality Captain for planning and scheduling
  • Ensure buy-in to the plan and schedule by all Key Stakeholders including Process, Engineering, Inspection and Maintenance Departments.
  • Position requires, on the job local system and IAPS process knowledge
  • Skilled communicator, that ensures engagement with TAO schedulers and IAPS Planners


Skills / Qualifications

The position requires to have excellent proficiency with SAP, IMPRESS and PRIMAVERA. Experience in planning and executing turnarounds, with experience and intermediate skill level in scheduling. Strong supervisory skills in managing crafts with good written/verbal communication skills and customer focus.

Shell UK IAPS Process Experience, specifically relating to process improvement and coaching of IAPS team members.
Primavera system, administration and update to include Data Standards, Coding and EPS Restructures.
Must be able to work effectively in a Team environment and build consensus.
