Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting a Senior Process Safety Engineer to join our team based in Chonburi, Thailand. This is an immediate requirement as is offered as a full time permanent staff position, reporting to the Process Engineering Manager.

Wood delivers engineering, procurement, construction, optimisation and technical services to the oil and gas sector and enjoys long-term partnerships with some of the regions most prominent producers and supports projects across Thailand.

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong background in the development of fire protection philosophy, firefighting equipment specifications, fire protection methodologies, consequence modelling and design of fire suppression and alarm systems. The ability to work to support and lead a team of technical experts is a key part of this role.
  • Lead a team of fire protection engineers/design safety across a range of projects with key clients
  • Carry out fire protection/design safety scopes of work and related activities as assigned
  • Prepare agreed fire protection/design safety deliverables
  • Support and assist other disciplines across the project portfolio as required
  • Actively participate in design review meetings


Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Masters degree in Chemical engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 6 years experience in Petrochemical, Refinery or Oil & Gas operations
  • Background in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Risk Assessment, Design Safety or related fields
  • Minimum Level I Thailand Professional Chemical Engineering License
  • Recent relevant experience in this specialist field developing
    • fire protection philosophies and fire risk assessments
    • fire protection / fire detection methodologies
    • design of fire suppression and alarm systems
    • reviewing fire prevention and protection standards and procedures
    • firefighting equipment data sheets
    • experienced in hydraulic analysis and consequence modelling
    • Knowledge and experience of risk assessment methodology e.g. Bow Tie, HAZOP, What if, Fault Tree analysis and Event Tree etc.
    • Dispersion modelling

Along with your technical expertise you will demonstrate
  • a proven ability to lead and coordinate a fire protection/design safety team
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • a strong command of Thai and English, both spoken and written
