Supervises:  Pipeline Engineers and Designers

Experience:  Minimum 7 years of industry experience related to pipeline engineering design with at least 2 years applicable experience in EPCI/FEED offshore oil & gas projects.

Education:  Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline

Additional Qualifications:   Detailed knowledge of pipeline design techniques in oil and gas development projects and experience in subsea facilities projects. Experience in standard pipeline design software such as AUTOPIPE, AGA L1,L2,L3, PIPECALC, DNV STABLINE FATFREE, ABAQUS etc


BASIC FUNCTIONS

  • Function as Sr Pipeline Engineer on assigned projects/Bids (Pre-FEED, FEED or EPCIC).
  • Plan, organise and direct all aspects of subsea production and pipeline system design to meet the technical competency expectations of the company and its clients.
  • Establish and maintain technical and professional standards within his/her team and ensuring that the work complies with Company objectives and procedures.
  • Maintain close co-ordination with other engineering disciplines, planning and fabrication as required.
  • Ensure interfaces and deliverables are clearly identified. Coordinate material control requirements and maintains agreed material order release dates, ensures standards are followed.
  • Participate in internal, client and third party technical audit on engineering deliverables and vendor documents
  • Maintain responsibility for the pipeline engineering integrity of the design group.
  • Co-ordination of design requirements with other Disciplines, Groups within JRM, Customers and the vendors.
  • Review and prepare pipeline design basis for all projects, Analysis of pipeline for operation and hydrotest conditions and detailed pipeline design.
  • Provide guidance on the pipeline and subsea equipment installation and recovery methods and procedures.
  • Apply new developments in subsea technology. Establish contract review criteria, identify and resolve discrepancies and divergences from original proposal through the instigation of technical queries to projects/client.
  • Undertake design calc, analysis, reviews to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Undertake independent analysis of pipelines and verification activities on operational aspects of pipeline systems.
  • Support the pipeline mechanical design and analysis during FEED and detailed design for rigid flowlines
  • Complete specification of production jumpers, risers and appurtenances for detail design by specialist suppliers and installers
  • Review and approval of all documents produced by his/her team and ensuring that the single discipline/inter-discipline checking is carried out as per the Company procedures.
  • Review and approve all detailed drawings/ design control report ensuring technical correctness, professional presentation and that fabrication and installation requirements are satisfied.
  • Review multidiscipline deliverables, vendor data. Provide comments to ensure all interfaces are detailed clash free.
  • Review comments from clients & other agencies on documents and drawings produced by the department, resolve and give guidance on their updation and incorporation.
  • Assist procurement and project engineering personnel in the procurement of line pipe, coatings, risers, jumpers, subsea production equipment (such as wye, tee, manifolds & valves) etc.
  • Monitor changes in scope and raise change notifications.
  • Provide technical support to all fabrication queries. Identify defect / rectification requirements.
  • Monitor additional construction engineering requirements.

    • o Wall thickness designs
    • On-bottom stability analyses
    • Pipeline cathodic protection designs
    • Free-span analyses
    • Pipeline expansion and rigid riser stress analyses using finite element analysis (FEA) tools
    • Route selection designs
    • Bottom roughness evaluations
    • Crossing support designs
    • Dropped object protection structure designs
    • Clamp designs
    • Subsea structure designs
    • Shore approach designs
    • Onshore pipeline designs
    • Pipeline local and global buckling mitigation designs
    • Pipeline seismic analyses
    • Installation analyses
EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES
  • Experience related to pipeline engineering and analyses for shallow water and deep water projects
  • Experience with industry standard software packages for pipeline engineering and analysis
  • Experience with industry commonly used codes and standards for subsea pipeline engineering
  • Good organization and communication skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet project deadlines.
