Overview / Responsibilities
This role assists with coordinating, implementing, executing tasks and maintaining a proactive plant specific program to achieve Plant Safety, Health, Security and Emergency Response goals and objectives. This role will be performed on the client site in La Porte, TX
Essential Functions / Key Accountabilities
- Assist with the implementation of day-to-day Safety and Health programs.
- Acts as the Plant resource for related Safety and Health information on procedures, guidelines, and standards.
- Plant contact for Safety and Health issues.
- Assists with capturing and ensuring completion of safety action items using electronic tool.
- Helps evaluate PPE available and make best selections to meet needs/requirements.
- Coaches' /trains teams and individuals on Safety and Health related tasks, activities, and requirements.
- Assists with implementing safety procedures to meet regulatory requirements as per HSSE Manager and Corp HSSE Process Manger.
- Updates procedures as needed to address changes in regulations as per HSSE Manager and Corp HSSE Process Manger.
- Assign and ensure completion of safety trainings to cover OSHA and Site required topics.
- Assists HSSE specialist in developing and achieving area or plant Safety, Health, Security and Emergency Services goals.
- Assist HSSE specialist with ensuring compliance tasks are completed.
- Assist HSSE specialist with Coordinating the IH monitoring, data collection, analyzing and reporting for the Plant. (CTEH)
- Audits in Safety and Health related areas.
- As required conducts and documents investigations of incidents and ensures follow up actions to prevent reoccurrences are addressed.
Skills / Qualifications
- Capable of pursuing nationally recognized certifications (CSP, ASP, CHST, or OHST), OSHA 500, or degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related field
- Possess a minimum of 3 years of progressive performance responsibility within the HSSE&S field
- Ability to safely navigate construction sites
- Established experience within capital construction projects
- Ability to support complex HSSE teams and projects
- CPR/AED/First Aid c ertification or ability to attain
- Additional HSSE&S based continuing education
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- High level of integrity for reporting, as well as upholding enterprise policy
- Proven ability to self-direct and complete tasks on-time with minimal oversight
- Ability to support audit compliance in the workplace
- Must possess a working knowledge of Microsoft programs (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook)Ability to perform all physical requirements while wearing protective face coverings per CDC recommendations and Wood policies relative to COVID
- Willingness to travel on a schedule and in a manner required by Wood
