The structural Engineer is responsible for the detailed structural engineering scope of industrial and municipal water and wastewater systems as well as biological sludge incineration and digestion. The Structural Engineer reviews and applies project specifications to select a suitable design to accomplish project structural engineering objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Validate structural adequacy of proprietary process equipment according to internal and published standards.
  • Conduct engineering analyses and calculations to produce engineering submittals and other project deliverables in accordance with established project specifications, procedures, schedule, and budget.
  • Use structural and mechanical analysis software.
  • Create structural engineering related specifications on construction, fabrication, inspection, installation, and operations.
  • Interact and coordinate project activities with colleagues in different disciplines and functions.
  • Review project drawings to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Provide guidance and support to designers and engineers on the team.
  • Validate engineering design, remedy variations, and optimize engineering efficiency.
  • Participate in development and maintenance of internal engineering and design standards


Minimum Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • PE License in at least one state (in the US) with ability to apply and receive PE license in other states as needs arise.
  • Overall work experience should exhibit advanced technical understanding in various steel and concrete structures.
  • Minimum of 10 years of structural engineering and design related experience.


Other Useful Skills and Abilities:

 

 

  • Experience in design of water/wastewater treatment equipment a plus. This includes steel storage tanks, hydraulics, piping supports, static, dynamic and thermal stress analysis.
  • Strong working knowledge of IBC, AISC, API, ASTM, AWWA, OSHA and other applicable codes and standards.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar computer design software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and contribute to team and department projects.
  • Comfortable with a fast-paced work environment.
  • Good technical writing and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships with co-workers.
