Overview / Responsibilities

Wood requires a Senior Integrity Database Engineer within its Aberdeen team. Reporting to the NEXUS IC Team Lead the primary purpose of this job is to provide technology engineering consultancy services to the Wood client base.

The role may also require the provision of on-site support, both onshore and offshore as necessary.

The primary function of the Integrity Database Engineer will be to oversee the successful day to day completion of engineering workscopes as identified by the NEXUS IC Team Lead the applicable client representative / project manager.

Typical workscopes included within the remit of the Integrity Database Engineer are the development of asset integrity management databases and risk models using previous experience while working in an Asset Integrity department or carrying out a role connected to Integrity Management.

An important aspect of the role is the ability to follow up with clients during / after workscopes to identify potential improvements, trends or concerns with data recorded in the database. The databases used to manage data are Wood proprietary software products.

Successful applicants will be required to ensure the safe, efficient and profitable execution of all engineering works.

The Role

Technical Accountabilities:
  • Development of software based technology for the integrity management of Energy Industry assets.
  • The provision of engineering support by other communication means (email etc) in support of the Wood client base.

Technical Responsibilities:
  • Possess a working familiarity with relevant codes and standards that affect integrity engineering for design and operational purposes;
  • Provide technology engineering expertise based upon knowledge of data acquisition and data management systems, inspection methods and integrity assessment methods for a variety of Energy Industry assets;
  • Provide ongoing maintenance support to the Wood client base for all software and technology related issues.
  • Assist in the training of graduate engineers.
  • Correctly adhere to the Company Health, Safety, Environment, & Quality policies.
  • Implement appropriate levels of reporting and control to provide the information necessary to maximise the profit and return on work undertaken by the Company.
  • Liaise with Customer(s) personnel to develop discrete workscopes and build a professional working relationship with the Customer(s).

Skills / Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate technical understanding of technology engineering standard practices and communicate effectively with others on technical issues.
  • Be self-motivated, enthusiastic and committed to delivering first class technology engineering services.
  • High level of computing / IT literacy required.
  • Knowledge of hardware, software and SQL all beneficial.
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills and an ability to relate to those in a wide range of organisation positions.
  • Capacity to understand complex problems and help identify practical and technically sound solutions.
  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline desireable.
  • Formal training in various technology engineering applications associated with design and in-service asset operations.
  • Thorough knowledge of international codes and standards relevant to the Energy Industry.
  • Excellent PC literacy (specifically with the MS Office products).
  • Fluent in both written and verbal English.

Relevant Experience.
  • Experience in the Oil & Gas or Energy industries in a role which had a primary technical function requiring the provision of technology engineering services.
  • Experienced working background in Integrity Management.
  • Ideal candidate would have experience working as an expert-user or super-user in an IT database system.
  • Experience in engineering technical terms and their uses and applications.
