Overview

We are seeking a Geophysical HPC Analyst developer to join Geophysical Applications Division of Exploration Applications Services Department.

The Geophysical Applications Division (GAD) core responsibilities include support of a large user base in Exploration with wide range of geoscience applications, technologies and solutions spanning the whole upstream spectrum from Exploration to Development. As Oil and Gas exploration in Saudi Arabia has moved to higher levels of complexity and more challenging frontiers, GAD is committed as ever to acquire and develop state of the art technologies and to hire the best-in-class geoscientists to meet the growing energy demand and achieving net zero emissions by 2060 as strategized by the 2030 vision of Saudi Arabia.

As a geoscientist working in GAD, you will be involved in developing geophysical applications/workflows that integrates multidisciplinary upstream data utilizing mainstream G&G software platforms, such as Emerson's Paradigm and Schlumberger's Omega among multiple other specialized software. You will work closely with exploration and development geophysicists leveraging an in-depth experience in industry-leading Geophysical software to conduct advanced seismic processing, inversion and imaging including rock-physics analysis. Moreover, you will develop and optimize In-house code and environment and work on High Performance Computing Systems monitoring and trouble shooting.

Key Responsibilities

You will be required to perform the following:

Develops, optimizes, maintains and supports geophysical applications

Monitor and trouble shoots High Performance Computing (HPC) Systems to optimize resource utilization and improve project turnaround time.

Adviseson internal department work procedures to promote increased productivity and efficiencies.

Recommend and conduct studies on the extension of HPC computing technology into profitable areas of Geophysical Processing and Interpretation technical activities. In conjunction with Exploration customer representatives, determines opportunities for computer assistance.

Prepare proposals for higher management on Geophysical Processing and HPC systems and projects.

Endorse technical HPC applications where initial study has determined a high degree of operational feasibility is involved.

Initiate and conducts continuous research into advanced systems concepts and latest developments in techniques and applications pertaining to Geophysical Processing and HPC systems.

Maintain close liaison with U.S. Company representatives on availability of HPC programming systems which they have developed that may be of interest to Saudi ARAMCO.

Participate in activities of technical societies and keeps abreast of advancements in Geophysical data processing and data display techniques applicable to the area of organizational responsibility.

Apply best practices to achieve collaborative disciplined and well-governed work environment

Adopt and apply IR.4, AI, and DL techniques to automate iterative and laborious tasks and workflows wherever possible.

Develop and deliver customized HPC geoscience training, in specialized areas rock physics, quantitative and pre-stack seismic imaging, inversion and advanced seismic attributes

Minimum Requirements

As a successful candidate, you

Will hold a Bachelor's degree in Geosciences, HPC, or related field. An MSc or PhD degree in geosciences is also desirable.

Have extensive recent industry experience working on geoscience projects, studies and operations.

Have an intensive knowledge in handling, customizing and automating operational workflows of a wide range of geological and geophysical disciplines such as exploration seismic processing, inversion and imaging including rock-physics and other geoscience-related disciplines. Specialization in few sub disciplines is advantageous.

Have Mastery level knowledge and experience in GPU geophysical development including porting compute intensive geophysical algorithms (i.e. depth migration) onto GPU architecture. As well as, experience with seismic processing applications and High Performance Computing. In addition, Programming skills ( C/C++, Fortran & Python), GPU acceleration and Unix/Linux background.

Have knowledge to deal with 2D/ and 3D seismic data, and conducting velocity models, seismic attributes, inversion, spectral decomposition, AVO, AVA, and well familiar with quantitative and pre-stack seismic imaging.

Are fully familiar with geoscience data management for structured and unstructured data and various industry standard formats including evolving new trends pertaining to cloud computing such as OSDU

Are familiar with latest and cutting edge geoscience industry trends including IR4.0 use cases and applications. You should have attended and preferably got certified in data science, machine/ deep learning with hands-on experience in commanding and building solutions revolving around it. Expertise in utilizing geoscience software development kits and APIs is highly preferable.
