SLB is looking for enthusiastic PhD or MS candidate with experience in geology characterization with strong laboratory experience to join our international team of scientists and engineers. The successful candidate will be trained on how to interpret log responses, drilling parameters, and cuttings descriptions for the purpose of formation evaluation in either surface reservoirs or carbon storage sites. Responsibilities will also include using machine learning and image analysis techniques to provide integrated geological models by working with other scientists in the computational domain. Successful candidates should have a strong background in stratigraphy and experimental methods, with a particular focus in two areas:
  • Advanced laboratories techniques to characterize geological and petrophysical properties of rock and minerals at various scales and pressure-temperature conditions (e.g., core analysis, XRD, FTIR, SEM-EDX, FIB, ICP-MS, and more), along with good rock identification skills. Knowledge of Earth formation evaluation methods using subsurface (wellbore) and surface measurements will also be considered.
  • Experience in setting up experimental methods for the purpose of characterizing the properties of carbon storage sites

  • Roles & Responsibilities:
    • Provide research and development solutions based on principles of physics and mathematical models
    • Build virtual and real prototypes, products, and systems suitable for testing
    • Design testing procedures and coordinate tests, and document results
    • Conduct technical reviews of project requirements, specifications and risk analysis
    • Assist in commercialization tasks where applicable
