Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently looking for a Business Lead - Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Engineer in the Americas to grow and support our global CFD consultancy business. This role can be seated out of our Calgary, AB or Houston, TX offices.

This position will report to the local Intelligent Operations Manager and the Global CFD business manager. The successful candidate will grow Wood's CFD business through internal and external business development and manage technical scopes using a global execution team. The successful candidate should demonstrate a previous experience using CFD tools either in an academic and/or industrial environment. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong technical knowledge and the desire to develop and grow the business .

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage all CFD projects in America and assist in the execution of the projects
  • Chase growth opportunities within existing and new client base
  • Responsible of the business development of the CFD team in the Americas
  • Responsible to identify new opportunities outside of the current client portfolio
  • Perform client survey and competition analysis
  • Assist in the bid preparation for a better positioning of the company
  • Assist in the growth strategy development
  • Ensure a high standard of safety is achieved and Environmental and Quality Assurance procedures are followed

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor in Chemical Engineering or related field. Candidates with MSc, MEng or PhD will have an added advantage.
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years experience in CFD simulations in complex fluid dynamics (eg multiphase flow, FSI, multiway coupling, complex thermodynamics)
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a role responsible for generating new business
  • Good understanding of the capabilities of Commercial CFD software (experience with open source codes is also desirable)
  • Proven project/study management experience
  • Possess good interpersonal skills and able to develop good client relationship
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, other languages would be appreciated
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Must be either a US or Canadian citizen, or authorized to work lawfully in the US or Canada, without sponsorship from Wood.
