Take ownership on engineering

The Lead Subsea Controls Engineer will be responsible for providing technical expertise, leadership and governance to a range of activities related to the Baker Hughes Control System install base within the Services APACI Region.

This is a client facing, you'll be working directly with the customer's operational teams on the existing install base. The role will require a proactiveness across all functions within the business as you'll need to work and manage scopes across geographical diverse teams. Projects include continuous improvement initiatives, system studies and upgrades, and life of field support activities. Daily activities include:
  • Leading all applicable Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality requirements
  • Developing and executing scopes in line with customer and project requirements and priorities
  • Defining Cost Time Resource (CTR) requirements for engineering planning and forecasting purposes
  • Proactively driving engineering and team activities to ensure "on time" delivery to the customer
  • Increasing the region level of ownership and accountability over APACI project execution, generate more autonomy and regional capacity and capabilities.
  • Collaborating during design reviews, work with the Controlled Titles at all stages during project execution, input into the project risk matrix and drive mitigation activities.
  • Collaborating with key personnel to assess the manpower required for offshore installations (including skill gaps), provide planning support, inputting and reviewing procedures for the offshore installations and lead the offshore teams during commissioning and start-up.
  • Leveraging in-depth knowledge of the region fields, Baker Hughes products to assist project execution teams with product reviews to ensure that best use of resource and time is made to achieve agreed KPIs across multiple projects.
  • Ensuring deliverables meet Customer technical specifications, regional Technical Regulations and Standards for Australia.
  • Dispositioning, reviewing and approving product clarifications, procedures and technical reports.
  • Providing technical engineering support and leadership during business and non-business hours, including rota based 24-7 engineering on-call.


Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:
  • Have Degree in Instrumentation and Control Systems Engineering, or Industrial Computer Systems Engineering or related discipline or an equivalent combination of qualifications and relevant experience.
  • Have +10 years of engineering experience within the subsea industry or related service organization.
  • Have service based customer first mindset and good understanding of risk analysis and hazard mitigation
  • Be proactive and results oriented, self-motivated and ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Have field experience in subsea installations, troubleshooting and interventions
  • Have sound knowledge of environmental, health and safety, and quality regulations within the oil and gas industry.
  • Have good communication skills, with an ability to communicate well in a multi-lingual/multi-cultural team environment
  • Have good English language skills, both verbal and written.
  • Have knowledge of relevant and applicable International and Australian Standards


Salary Range

AUD 140,000 - 150,000 per annum
