Position Title: Relief Team Lead/ Shift Supervisor

Our client, a leading integrated energy company with a refinery in the Denver, CO area has a permanent opportunity for a Relief Team Lead/ Shift Supervisor.
This position is responsible for acting as a Relief Shift Supervisor leading a team of process operators to execute refinery production and maintenance plans; and deliver safe, compliant and efficient operation of refinery assets. This position also ensures the team complies with Company's policies, procedures and agreements to achieve and sustain operational excellence. This position is responsible for managing day-to-day operations in the plant associated with safety, environmental, quality, production, and costs. This position also assists with projects as needed with coordinating operations work; point of contact for designated projects and special assignments; and periodically audits contractors for compliance with Plant policies and procedures. This position will also support training of operations.
  • Ensures compliance with personal safety, process safety, environmental, reliability and operability limits and corrective actions.
  • Works with shift team to members to assess hazards, determine risk levels and develop mitigation plans.
  • Monitors shift team performance to ensure compliance with Company policies, procedures, guidelines, CBA, and other agreements.
  • Understands and promptly communicates all exceptions to appropriate parties, i.e. safety, environmental, production and maintenance, operations, and reliability leadership team (RLT) as appropriate.
  • Works with shift team to manage emergency situations.
  • Works with shift team to promptly conduct incident investigations and ensures that they are properly reported and closed.
  • Assesses and addresses day-to-day personnel, scheduling and break-in maintenance needs.
  • Monitors shift team performance to ensure compliance with refinery production and maintenance plans.
  • Builds trust within the team by supporting open dialog and providing prompt follow-up to team issues, concerns and challenges.
  • Works with OMT Lead to define, develop and execute the OMT deliverables for refinery projects.
  • This position is responsible for allocating maintenance resources to manage immediate and immanent risks to safety, environment and production.
  • This position is the incident commander in emergency response events until relieved by the Emergency Operations Commander and is responsible for the safety of personnel, the environment and refinery equipment.
  • This position is the shift team leader and responsible for working with the shift team to assess hazards associated with executing production and maintenance plan objectives; and has to establish temporary mitigations and or stop work as necessary to ensure safety, environmental compliance and efficient use of refinery resources.
  • Incident Commander during emergency events, works collaboratively with emergency operations center staff and emergency response team to manage emergency events.
  • This position works primarily in the production and loading areas of the refinery and attends some meetings in the refinery business center (RBC). This position leads a team that is responsible for safe processing, transferring, storing, loading and unloading of hazardous materials and the operation of critical safety equipment. There is risk of loss of containment of hazardous materials the can lead to fires, explosions and exposures to employees and the community. This position has to make decisive decisions such as shutting down processes and equipment, evacuation of personnel, shutting down of public roadways and allocation of resources to minimize impacts to safety, environment and equipment.
  • Comprehensive and advanced knowledge of regulatory limits.
  • Comprehensive and advanced knowledge of the integrated contingency plan.
  • Comprehensive and advanced knowledge of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
  • Working knowledge of refinery safe work practices (SWPs).
  • Working knowledge of refinery process safety program and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of the operator log tool (OLT).
  • Working knowledge of Management of Change Tools (KMS).
  • Working knowledge of the incident management tool (Enablon).
  • Working knowledge of Process Monitor Tools (PI Process Book).
  • Working knowledge of Control Systems (Experion / Delta V).
  • Working knowledge of ADEM (Company's Project Management Process) specific to Operational Deliverables.
  • 10+ years in a operations role, preferably with refining and/or petrochemicals.
  • 5+ years of relevant operations or shift supervisory/management experience within plant site.
  • DCS experience with either Experion or Delta V highly preferred.
  • Prior experience working in a unionized plant is a plus.
  • Experience in Commissioning, Start-up, and Shut-down activities is a plus.
  • Experience training Operators is a plus.
