Weatherford have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Workshop Technician to join the RCD (Rotating Control Devices) Team in Altens, Aberdeen. The RCD Workshop Technician's main job purpose is to provide maintenance and servicing of the RCD System in accordance with company procedures and in conjunction with the industry standards, quality and safety management systems. The RCD Workshop Technician will work efficiently and cost effectively and assist with the control of assets and inventory so that operational requirements are met. He/She will be responsible for the RCD consumables and spares for all projects and will support the Application Engineers and communicate with the MPD (Managed Pressure Drilling) Management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • To maintain all RCD Equipment within the Product Line.
  • To rig up, operate, and maintain all RCD equipment onshore at the workshop site and to assist Operations according to Customer and Clients.
  • To plan and coordinate the Surface RCD maintenance within the department so that operational requirements meet deadlines.
  • Assist the Stores Person in relation to preparing shipments and controlling minimum stock levels and critical spares for all RCD equipment.
  • To load and off load transportation in a safe and diligent manner. Additionally, to ensure good housekeeping is maintained within workshop and yard area, and on customers' work sites offshore, onshore and other customer locations.
  • To conduct FAT's on instrumentation systems and equipment prior to being sent offshore.
  • Any other delegated task as instructed by Line Management within the timeframe specified in a safe and efficient manner to meet business requirements, provided the instruction is reasonable and you are capable and deemed competent to fulfil these.


  • 3-6 years experience in a mechanical capacity.
  • Relevant mechanical qualifications.
  • Basic maintenance skills and fault finding for both mechanical and electrical/hydraulic.
  • Must be keen and show aptitude to develop skills and understanding of Surface MPD/instrumentation/ hydraulic equipment.
  • Experience with Pressure testing.
  • Flexible and adaptable to a changing environment.
  • Forklift, overhead crane certificate (desirable).
  • Basic computer skills are required.
