Position Title: Sr Modeling and Data Analytics Engineer

Job Summary:

Sr Modeling and Data Analytics Engineer position is responsible for the development of physics-based or data driven models for carbon capture technology development team. The Sr Modeling and Data Analytics Engineer is expected to lead the development of computational algorithms and models to guide new equipment or process design and/or to improve the performance of process operations

Job Description and Work Environment:
  • Be a member of a multidisciplinary team, including chemists, chemical engineers, and mechanical engineers to develop carbon capture solutions
  • Conduct research and maintain awareness of novel developments in carbon capture
  • Investigate new and developing technologies as they appear in industry and academia and determine how to leverage these new technologies into our digital solutions
  • Develop data analytics or physics-based models and algorithms to simulate and optimize the conventional or novel carbon capture processes and convert the model into design tools to assist the new technology deployment
  • Create data analytics or physics-based models based on real time operation data to assure uptime and optimize the system performance
  • Work with mechanical or fluid flow simulation team to guide the high-fidelity simulations (FEA, CFD) and use the results to help engineering design and operation optimization
  • Provide guidance in the lab and in the field to acquire the
  • data for model development, validation, and testing
  • Provide a prototype code and test cases for further transitioning it to software engineers for industrialization
  • Provide support to meet the needs of R&D, engineering design, pilot tests, and field operations
  • Prepare internal documents or publishing technical papers or making technical presentations to meet the business needs.
  • Develop analyses to support commercial strategy derived from mix of technical research, market/competitor intelligence, policy understanding and project economic analysis

Required Job Qualifications:
  • MSc. or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or similar background with 5-10 years of computational model development experience
  • Have a strong understanding of fundamentals of computational mechanics and data science, and be able to adapt knowledge to new applications
  • Working knowledge of Python, C++ or other program languages
  • Experience with applying machine learning techniques in industrial environment
  • Knowledge of cloud based IIOT data platforms such as AWS, Cognite, GCP etc.
  • Demonstrated project execution experience, teamwork experience & ability to work across all functions/levels as part of a team.
  • Beneficial areas of experience: prognostics health and management (PHM), rotating equipment, reduced order modelling and system modelling
