Aker Solutions' Subsea Lifecycle Engineering team located in Mobile, Alabama is looking to add to the team. We are seeking a degreed Senior Mechanical Engineer with extensive SCM (Subsea Control Modules) experience.

You must be able to work in the United States without work authorization assistance, now, or in the future. 

What will you be doing?
  • Under limited direction, use expertise and best practices to solve functional issues and improve programs and/or processes in support of organizational business challenges.
  • Oversee the work quality of a team of technical draftsmen designing single product components
  • Design complex engineering plans and lead the work of others evaluating the effectiveness, safety, and economic impact of designs and developing recommendations to optimize results, as needed.
  • Recommends measures to improve methods, performance and quality of product or service, provides technical guidance and suggests changes in programs or processes to increase efficiency and improve results. Be an individual contributor by checking/approving technical documents and taking leadership on selected projects, tenders and studies
  • Use engineering or work-related skills to solve technical design-related problems; analyzing and interpreting experimental and field data and making recommendations concerning product design, materials, and manufacture.
  • Prepare and present moderately complex proposals and reports.
  • Demonstrates consistent communication skills including selling and/or customer relation skills.
  • Frequent and consistent interface with departmental staff, lower and middle management, and external clients is important for building relationships for future business opportunities.
We think you should have:
  • Bachelors in Engineering
  • 7+ years of technical experience with SCM (Subsea control modules)
  • Ability to train others in the application of engineering practices as related to area of expertise, including code and criteria requirements.
  • Ability to provide quality oversight, review, edit and refine others reports.
  • Ability to play and active and substantial role in bid and proposal process.
  • Ability to proficiently communicate ideas and concepts, developing the ability to persuade and influence others as needed, explaining why things are done the way they are within a broader organizational context.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are critical.
