Aker Solutions is seeking to add a Technical Assistant to the Floating System Integrity Engineering (FSIE) team for our BP inspection engineering contract in GoM. The position is located in Houston, Texas.

Local candidates. You must be able to work in the United States without work authorization assistance now or in the future.

What will you be doing?
  • Responsible for the Asset Integrity / Engineering tasks assigned for the allocated scopes/assets to ensure they are delivered on time and according to plan.
  • Support the implementation of an Integrity Risk Management Process, aligned to the client risk management process
  • Ensure effective data management and input of inspection findings and relevant data to the anomaly data management tool
  • Assisting in finding relevant documentation for structure or equipment
  • Input to the anomaly process as directed by Floating Systems Integrity Engineer
  • Preparing and updating inspection plans and work packs
  • Input to monthly KPI attainment relevant to the discipline
  • Attend Client facing meetings as required
  • Coordination of work scopes and tasks and maintenance of progress reports
  • Conduct self-verification activities relative to the tasks above
  • Any other tasks assigned by discipline lead
  • Must be willing to travel offshore, as required.
We think you should have:
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in an engineering discipline, or a combination of relevant education and experience, e.g. structures or mechanical.
  • Working knowledge of structural integrity engineering and inspection techniques
  • Sound working knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards
  • Conversant with appropriate technical software and Office
  • Structured and detail focused
  • Ability to complete all mandatory safety training and meet qualifications required for work at various sites, including offshore sites
  • Strong desire to learn, innovate and contribute to both group and individual success and ongoing professional development
  • Presentation and meeting skills.
  • Good communicator at all levels within the organization and with external clients.
  • Must be a ‘team player'
  • Good command of the English language and will be able to communicate well in both verbal and written form, both internally and to the Client
