Position Summary

Accountable for Oceaneering Space Systems manufacturing activities, including softgoods fabrication, hardware manufacturing, mechanical and electrical assembly, production control, property management and logistics.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership for manufacturing for health, safety, and environmental activities.
  • Continue a culture of service, respect, and forward focused improvement in the manufacturing organization.
  • Manage build-to-print manufacturing projects and manufacturing aspects of development projects from the initial planning and development phases through sewing, machining, assembly, installation, and delivery. Types of softgoods and hardware include thermal protection systems, EVA equipment, space suit components, and unique robotic and spacecraft systems, from piece parts to end item deliverables.
  • Prepare and review technical and price proposals for manufacturing services.
  • Ensure appropriate manufacturing staffing. Set expectations, empower staff, and manage staff performance to maximize effectiveness of personnel.
  • Maintain QMS procedures and work instructions associated with manufacturing activities and ensure compliance with QMS, company policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Manage OSS's Clear Lake and Friendswood manufacturing, assembly, test, and storage facilities
  • Accountable for commercial and government property management
  • Participate as a key member of the OSS management team on Continuous Improvement (CI) Teams and related activities.
  • Ensure that manufacturing services are cost-competitive in the spaceflight industry. Pursue and prepare initiatives to enhance and improve OSS capabilities and competitiveness in the marketplace.
  • Market OSS's manufacturing capabilities to internal and external customers.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with external customers, and internal multidisciplinary team.

  • Proven ability in supervising, mentoring, motivating, and developing personnel.


  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university or 8+ years of experience managing in a manufacturing and operations environment.
  • Proven ability in supervising, mentoring, motivating, and developing personnel.
  • Strong understanding of hardware and softgoods fabrication and assembly techniques.
  • Experience in preparing price proposals consisting of labor and non-labor estimation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer relations skills.
