Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is recruiting for a Principal Instrument & Controls (I&C) Engineer to join our team in Perth, Western Australia as part of its Operations APAC West business. This is a long term opportunity which is expected to be an ongoing requirement for a key energy client.

Wood delivers brownfields engineering, procurement, construction, optimisation and technical services to the oil and gas sector and enjoys long-term partnerships with some of the region's most prominent producers, actively supporting operations in Western Australia, the Northern Territory and Kazakhstan.

You will be reporting directly to the Instrument & Controls Discipline Lead and working across FEED / Execution to EPCM delivery, across some of world's most technically challenging brownfields Oil & Gas projects for Wood's Engineering group.

Skills / Qualifications

Please note you must be an Australian citizen OR currently hold Permanent Residency (PR) OR have full working rights to work lawfully in Australia.

Ideally, you will be a qualified engineer with an Instrumentation / Electrical Engineering degree from a recognised institution, and have relevant experience in either a Senior or Principal Instrument & Controls Engineer level role, within the Australian Oil & Gas industry within an EPCM / Engineering design office environment.

In addition you will have:
  • Knowledge of SPI for the development of I&C engineering deliverables, control systems, shutdown PLC hardware and software design
  • Extensive design and knowledge of applicable codes and standards (both international and Australian)
  • Proven experience managing risk during the design process consistent with technical and commercial requirements
  • Excellent analytical, literacy and numerical skills
  • Excellent communication skills with proven experience in client facing roles
  • Be prepared to undertake site visits either onshore / offshore
