Responsibilities

Weatherford currently have a great opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Inspector to join the team in East Leake, Loughborough. The Mechanical Inspector will provide accurate and efficient inspection of complex mechanical components, work-in-progress sub-assemblies, and finished product to the requirements of approved engineering drawings and specifications. Ensuring that quality requirements are met and maintained by suppliers, and in-house processes.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Detailed automated and manual inspection of complex mechanical components, sub-assemblies and finished product using appropriate calibrated measuring equipment to confirm conformance to approved manufacturing documentation.
  • Program, operate and maintain automated CMM and Hommel optical measurement systems.
  • Maintain calibration status of measuring equipment using both internal references and external calibration services.
  • Maintain Certificates of Conformity and other relevant documentation received with delivered and manufactured items, as required.
  • Create and maintain equipment e-log books, as required.
  • Liaise with internal departments and subcontractors, ensuring that quality requirements are understood and maintained.
  • Perform any other related duties, as required, which may include multi-tasking in other on-site manufacturing areas.


Qualifications

Required:
  • 5 GCSE's, grades A ~ C to include English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Experience of working within a disciplined ISO 9001:2015 business.
  • Must be comfortable working under pressure, within a busy team environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years recent and continuous experience within a similar demanding mechanical inspection role.
  • Familiarity with Zeiss Contura (or similar) CNC CMM programming, set-up and use.
  • Capable of interpreting and working to engineering drawing requirements.
  • Be committed to quality, and able to accurately and efficiently inspect, using the correct measuring equipment.
  • Possess a good understanding of machine shop practices.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours (if required).

Preferred:
  • Comfortable liaising with suppliers.
  • Mechanical assembly, and / or machining experience would be useful, but not essential.
  • Familiarity with Hommel Optic-line programming, set-up and use.
  • Familiarity with MRP systems (training provided).
  • Basic computer literacy.
