I have been retained by a globally competitive integrated energy company and they are looking for a Maintenance Improvement Manager to join their team in Commerce City, CO. This facility processes approximately 98,000 barrels/day and contributes $2.5 billion USD to Colorado's economy annually: the only facility of its kind in Colorado and the largest in the Rocky Mountain Region.

The Team Lead of Reliability Engineering is a working lead who will provide leadership, direction, and professional engineering services with the Reliability Group to ensure safe, reliable and cost effective operation of equipment which conforms to all applicable codes and standards.  The Team Leader - Reliability Engineering is a member of the Maintenance Reliability Team who will direct and mentor Area Reliability Engineers in collaboration with the Cross Functional Teams to provide technical support for site equipment and to identify equipment reliability improvement opportunities.  This position requires leadership by example in all aspects of Suncor's OEMS program.  As a member of the Refinery Maintenance department this position will focus on continuous improvement of reliability of equipment. This position is accountable for the creation of high-quality reliability improvement plans in support of Refinery objectives that align with maintenance, turnaround, and capital priority. Working closely with CFTs, Engineering and M&R teams, this role will track status and progress of reliability improvement and will assign resources for the on-time completion of reliability engineering deliverables. This includes the following:
•    Provide technical guidance, coaching and support for Reliability Engineers to ensure the delivery of high-quality work and conduct assurance to ensure expectations of quality are being met
•    Ensure compliance to applicable industry standards and codes, and to Suncor policies, standards and procedures.
•    Actively seek alignment with peers both intra and interdepartmental, working collaboratively, on strategic opportunities to improve asset performance and reduce maintenance costs.
•    Assign resources to complete reliability assessments and reliability improvement work while maintaining alignment with the M&R standards and site priorities
•    Support in ensuring reliability critical work is identified for outage and turnaround work as per the turnaround management guide
•    Work with CFTs to take a risk-based approach to managing reliability improvement opportunities for their respective areas
•    Provide leadership oversight to MOC and PSSR activities conducted by the team
•    Apply scrutiny to work entering Reliability Engineering to ensure it requires engineering resources and has Refinery support to plan, execute and accept the resulting budget impacts.
•    Develop a resource strategy for Reliability Engineering, with a well-established insource vs. outsource philosophy and clear triggers to request additional contractor support when priority work exceeds base load capacity (e.g. technical studies)

As a people leader, this role will exhibit high-trust leadership behaviors while providing mentorship and direction to the team, proactively resolve issues by practicing horizontal leadership, and advance Suncor's inclusion and diversity objectives.
