As a Lead Engineer - Design & Software , you will be part of the Engineering Technical Tool team, where we drive new software creation and maintain legacy and commercial software for analysis and simulation, machine selection and performance calculation of Turbomachines (Centrifugal and Reciprocating Compressors, Gas and Steam Turbines, Expanders, and Pumps). We also manage and administer the necessary computing infrastructure (HW and SW) and technological stack.

Our mission is to provide, drive and guarantee the availability of these systems allowing other design engineers to work efficiently in a concurrent environment.

Working in a global environment, you will have ownership of a series of engineering applications, services, software, and systems. You will have the responsibility of this ecosystem with Functional Owners in the Engineering organization, in collaboration with team members, third-party system administrators and Baker Hughes' internal clients and stakeholders.

As a Lead Engineer - Design & Software , you will be responsible for:
  • Designing the engineering processes & software ecosystems dedicated to Turbomachinery engineering teams
  • Working with team members to lead the infrastructure evolution to guarantee and maximize performance of tools and technical calculations across the whole product portfolio:
    • create, maintain, improve, and drive new app functionalities including relevant documentation
    • lead testing and validation activity (e.g. user acceptance tests)
    • support technical program users to solve issues on tools and/or theory


  • Establishing strong connections with Baker Hughes Digital Technology teams to ensure fruitful collaborations for technology evolution, adoption, and operational tasks
  • Providing technical leadership to, and engage in technical discussions with, internal/external stakeholders during analysis, development, roll-out phases for the assigned projects
  • Documenting technical data consistent with engineering policies and procedures
  • Participating as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
  • Harmonizing and adapt own goals in the context of complex global development plans and variable requirements
  • Guaranteeing the respect of quality procedure and lead process improvements
  • Participating on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives, projects and generic issues
  • Leading the evolution of these software frameworks to guarantee the alignment of Baker Hughes with the rest of the world state of the art.


Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:
  • Have a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar "STEM" majors (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math)
  • Have a solid experience in Turbomachinery mechanics, balance of plant, especially in Centrifugal Compression trains, Reciprocating Compressors, Steam Turbines, Gas Turbines
  • Have experience in real-gas Thermodynamics as in turbomachinery performance analysis & optimization
  • Be familiar with programming languages, for example Python, Matlab, Java, C ecosystem, Fortran
  • Able to fluently speak and write in English
  • Be a motivated self-starter, proactively taking initiative to lead and solve problems through collaboration
  • Have excellent communication skills, written and oral. Demonstrate ability to interact positively with both internal and external parties.
